Will this tank fit in Rangie?????????

Post by British Bulldog »

Hey guys I am chasing a second LPG tank for the 85 Rangie. The current 230k trip distance does not cut it for weekends away. Just want to know if this tank will fit, under the rear of the car minus the petrol tank. Its already on straight gas by Gas Research.
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll ... TQ:AU:1123
Its 950mm wide and 450mm high.
Or I would i be better trying to squeeze this setup in to the same space

Not sure how much space I have to play with with the tank out. Any hints or info would be greatly appreciated.
Also can anyone suggest a good place in the wild west of Melbourne to get it plumb in I will fit and wire just need the copper done.
Thanks in advance guys.
Cheers Kris

Neither will fit, the patrol has much wider chassis rails and the manifold tanks are too wide, if you really want good range on lpg only then best mod is to widen the chassis just after diff and fit in 2 large tanks- there was a place in Bayswater years ago that did this mod.
Saddle up tonto, its the not so loanrangie! . 98 TDI DISCO lightly modded with more to come.

I had this mod done to my old Rangie. Smithys cut the chassis behind the springs and made up a new section that was wider for the rear. Mine included modifying the ARB rear bar. I had 126 usuable gas in two tanks at the rear that did not hang down below the original fuel tank height as well as a quarter panel and two sill petrol tanks which was 100 litres of petrol as well. Gave a decent range for a weekend away with the 5 litre P76 motor sucking fuel at an alarming rate.

I have a LPG tank that goes where the existing fuel tank is, out of date, you can have for some scotch/beer/ bourbon :D

It does hang below the rails a bit but
Wanted: Car trailer or beaver tail truck, let me know what you got
