Does a GQ with 3-4" lift need adjustable panhard rods?
if you havent seen a cracked and bent patrol panhard mount, then you aint seen many patrols.whitemav wrote:Dont know anyone that has ever bent the mount's, would have to be driving like a complete idiot.
Wasnt bent mate, just one good hit with a rock half way up the track.

Not sure what you mean by driven properly man?whitemav wrote:Yeah sorry your right, I've never seen any
Not talking about the common issue with the early ones either mate. Either way a stronger panhard rod wont make a difference if driven properly.
Cheers

Also is this a true life time warranty or is life time considered 3yrs, etc

No dramas Rick. I don't have a set mate. I am about to have another set made but when you said lifetime warranty I think you have convinced me to grab a set of 3rd's off you.
Cheers

Since you know everything, I would have thought you would have heard about the extra bracing the later GQ's had after some early ones developed cracks in the front panhard rod mount.jessie928 wrote:mate now your just spitting out random words in the hope they will unjumble themselves and make sense.whitemav wrote:Yeah sorry your right, I've never seen any

Anyhow mate, Im just saying that in my experience which envolves a lot of GQ's driven fairly hard as weekend fun but not comp style abuse, and no one I know has ever had a problem running HD panhard rod's.
Since you have seen so many GQ's, why dont you put some evidence out there of this problem that your such an expert at, rather than just shutting my opinion down.
Im happy to be proven wrong, but dont just go and say they break on comp cars, as we all know everything breaks on comp cars
even a HD superior panhard will bend before the rear panhard to chassis mount cracks (well, it looks like it to me). On the GQ (especially the series 2) the rear section of the chassis is a bloody tough area with the exception of the spring hats obviously.
Although i wouldn't be suprised if you were bending superior's panhards every weekend you'd eventually be fatiguing the chassis.
I've heard of front panhard mounts cracking, usually along with the steering box though. But name a 4wd available which doesn't have this fatigue problem when used constantly on heavily corrugated roads. If there is one, its not a nissan or a toyota.

early and late patrols are prone to bending/cracking the chassis on hard side impact with HD panhards at the front. the early ones just crack, thats why nissan retrofitted them with a big arse brace that bolts to the steering box boltswhitemav wrote:Since you know everything, I would have thought you would have heard about the extra bracing the later GQ's had after some early ones developed cracks in the front panhard rod mount.jessie928 wrote:mate now your just spitting out random words in the hope they will unjumble themselves and make sense.whitemav wrote:Yeah sorry your right, I've never seen any

they do actually break on pavement pounder weekend warriors also,
but anyhow.

Can this brace be fitted to early model GQs to add some strength?
you need the steering box bolts and the brace.

Only my (probably unwanted) 2c but you may as well post that in general 4wd tech because we could find examples all around the world to situations where people have had the exact same issues with their rovers, cruisers, suzukis etc. some probably even with stock panhard rods.jessie928 wrote:early and late patrols are prone to bending/cracking the chassis on hard side impact with HD panhards at the front. the early ones just crack, thats why nissan retrofitted them with a big arse brace that bolts to the steering box boltswhitemav wrote:Since you know everything, I would have thought you would have heard about the extra bracing the later GQ's had after some early ones developed cracks in the front panhard rod mount.jessie928 wrote:mate now your just spitting out random words in the hope they will unjumble themselves and make sense.whitemav wrote:Yeah sorry your right, I've never seen any

I reckon you can't drive around in fear of every little thing which might happen because the internet said so - but thats just what i think. If it worries you that much, reinforce the shit out of it to make sure it doesnt happen. Thats what nissan did with that huge bolt on bracket they made for the series 1 chassis - seen a few of them and they're great looking things.
Well I fitted my new heavy duty panhards and the new bushes completely cured the death wobbles I had.
It turns out my GQ has allready got the panhard mount brace that goes back to the steering box mount bolts.
Now to fit the HD rear lowers and the drop boxs.
