Transfer case jumping out of 4Hi

Post by ZUKPOWER »

Hi everyone,
I have a 92 Sierra with a 1.6L, 31" BFG MT and Rockhopper S4 gearing. Recently my transfer case has started jumping out of 4Hi. When this happens the shifter pops up and the gates in the case misalign which means i need to pull the shifter out each time and stick a screw driver in the realign the gates. This only happens in 4Hi and not in 2Hi or 2Lo. I have replaced the shifter bush but that is all. Any ideas?

boner59 - was your shifter poping up and the gates misaligning or just jumping from 4Hi to another gear?

Just jumping in to neutral, at anytime it felt like it usually under load.
