Just wondering which is the best way to tackle these rover engine mounts in my 95 Discovery. Lifting the engine is out, so am thinking jacking the engine up, but needs to come uop a fair way, it was suggested to me to cut down the studs on the new ones to make it easier next time round??

95 Disco, 3.9l V8, 35" Coopers St's, 2" Lift, True Tracks Font & Rear. Bar & Winch, Home Made Sliders.
Yes, I made up a tool by making a T shape from 1inch square pine.
Then the top of the T goes on the front flange of the sump.
Jack up with a bottle jack or workshop jack.
Undo the fan cowling first.
Next time I do it I will cut off about 1/2 the thread as this means you do not have to lift so high.

I removed the top of the fan cowling and then jacked the motor up as far as I could without damaging stuff.
Then, as this still isn't high enough, I levered the mount out with a pinch bar. Easy to do when the mount is broken in half.
After getting sick of doing that a few times, I bought a set of QT mounts and haven't changed an engine mount or gearbox mount since.
The gearbox mounts are standard rubber and engine mounts are QT.

Hey Mate, if u got one, I used a block n tackle to do mine, it allows you to wiggle the engine with both engine mounts loose to get one out at a time.
If u dont have access to one, maybe a engine crane will do the trick? only took me about an hour to do them and do yourself a favour n dont use std engine mounts n get the Jag ones there almost double the diameter then u wont have to change them in a few months like i did from doing the rocky stuff
