Dont loose your keys (02 Patrol)
Dont loose your keys (02 Patrol)
I lost my keys, remotes everything, turns out the key has a transponder in the key head and needs to be programed, but to order a new key you need to bring in rego papers, photo id, then order, the key, it will come cut (but only if they can get the correct key number) then i need to pick the key up, take it home, open the car and move out of the garage and into the street so i can get a tilt tray to pick it up, then tow it to the dealer so they can re program the BCM or what ever to take the new key, then code the remote to suit. what a barstard!!!! All up it will be around $340.00 and thats with a cheap rate tow truck PRICKS!!!!!
Dont leave ya keys lying around in easy reach of your young fella's...

Re: Dont loose your keys (02 Patrol)
I know how you feel mate, My second set of keys for my Commodore went missing around the same time we were trying to teach our young fella to put his rubbish in the bin. After a while if we couldn't find anything we would check the bin.kc_ksom wrote: Dont leave ya keys lying around in easy reach of your young fella's...

have to have the key in the ignition with the nissan computer pluged in with a key programing disk, which gives you instructions . e.g turn ign. on then off take key out repeate seven times...
and this somehow reprograms the computer to accept the keys
something along those lines from memory

Hey guys
They need to connect the diagnosic tool, and program the BCM (computer) to except the new key transponder thing ma jig (in the key head) this can only be done with the particular scan tool, and yes there will most likley be a series of processes to re code.

This was my spare key, I lost my original key and remote last year, lol..
Mr wonderful
I had to get the key cut from the factory as I had no spare key, once I have a key I can get another cut no probs, but only a select few have the ability to match the transponder thing in the key head...

Re: Dont loose your keys (02 Patrol)
If you can get by without the car for a day or 2 I would,kc_ksom wrote:I lost my keys, remotes everything, turns out the key has a transponder in the key head and needs to be programed, but to order a new key you need to bring in rego papers, photo id, then order, the key, it will come cut (but only if they can get the correct key number) then i need to pick the key up, take it home, open the car and move out of the garage and into the street so i can get a tilt tray to pick it up, then tow it to the dealer so they can re program the BCM or what ever to take the new key, then code the remote to suit. what a barstard!!!! 1. upgrade to / or join RACQ ultracare = free towing
2. This could even get you access to a ( cheaper rate ) lock smith
whom might be able to help.??
3. then you would the balance of the years membership benefits?
4. Take it as a lesson and allways have a working 2nd set of keys/remote
hope you get it sorted!
cheers

Have to admit something I've always been worried about with these NATS keys, I only have one and nissan want a fortune for another one.
Is it different for the 4.2s?? I have a basic key cut, but have never tried to actually start the car! - it at least opens the doors

just went outside to the GU and tried the 3rd key...
opens the door (but useless if i have activated my alarm or deadlocked the doors)
tried to start it and it did for about 2secs and then shut down.
tried again and each time it would just fire for a fraction of a second and then shut down.
id say all GUs would be the same..

I had 2 blanks cut at Mr Minute, they open the doors, they start it, runs for few seconds and stops. :(
At least useful if you lock the keys in car, you can open doors.
