nissan patrol radiator's
just wondering if someone can help me out.
i have a 91 model 4.2 turbo diesel and im wondering if there is a difference between the petrol and diesel radiators. the car had an RB30 in it and was changed to the TD42 turbo diesel. it's over heating and im just wondering if it's running the wrong radiator and wat the difference between the two radiators is.

Re: nissan patrol radiator's
From memory, they are different with the TD one being bigger.
The factory one had two cores & did the job nicely (no turbo though).antpoo69 wrote:any idea how many cores the diesel one's have
I put a 3 core in & have only ever had it change position on the guage when abient is over 38 on long hills at 100 +.
Mind you it was with the air on and the guage moved from just under half to just over half.
Never moves, even when towing big loads, any other time & we have some big hills around here.
Don't ask me, ask them. I'm just runnin for my life myself.
Well they are all following you...
No they ain't, I'm just in front...............

the 3.0 petrols have the same outlets as diesel but dont have a pipe onchunderlicious wrote:one of the biggest differaces is that the petrol radiator outlets are on the opposite side to the diesel
the filler neck for the bleeder hose that comes off the top of the thermostat housing of the diesel to hook up 2 which helps purge air from the system
This is the same radiator I'm running in mine and it keeps my turboed V8 cool.mkpatrol wrote:The factory one had two cores & did the job nicely (no turbo though).antpoo69 wrote:any idea how many cores the diesel one's have

93 Nissan Pathfinder / Terrano Turboed VH45, GQ Trans and T-case, coil overs, hydraulic winch and fair bit of other stuff. (Currently a pile of parts in the workshop)

Be careful of these radiators. I have one & the bastard has split the tank twice within the 2 year warranty period.
Their warranty is very conditional, the radiator has to be sent away for testing and examnination (to SA) if there is any problems.
When mine split I just had it repaired by a local mob & they said they see them all the time with these sorts of problems.
Last time it started to leak form the core I just filled it with silver seal, I will replace it next time.
They just seem tp split at all the joining areas, its a real PITA.
They are also not just a straight replacement either, I had to modify my cowling so it would fit again.

all the copper tanked rads are the same, only the out lets change. rb,td,tb identical. after market 3 core.....
i do a copper tanked f100 radiator 4 core, bolts straight in, you will have to cut some of the inner guard away . i have done these in v8,turbo diesel, turbo petrol where they could not be keeped cool. they are not cheap but work perfectly $700 - $800
