Wheel size question

Got after market (sun riser) wheels on my 96 Pajero.. Not knowing anything about wheels & tyres.
How do I tell what size they are? ( I guess if I have to measure them, where?)
Also then how can I find what the maximum size tyre I can fit on them?

Wheels are "measured" by diameter and width - but the dimensions that are "quoted" are not the very outside dimensions, and the nominal dimensions can't be accurately measured while a tyre is on the rim.

If you can measure (in inches) the diameter and width, as best as you can, and tell us the size of tyres on there at the moment, we can probably make a pretty good guess about the actual size.

you sure they arent stamped on there somewhere? 15x7JJ or something like that?

Had a look at the wheel and from what I can see (like you said hard to measure with the tyre on), the wheel is 16 x 8 and there is no stamp (of the size) on the rims.
The tyres on there at the moment are:
P235/75R15 105S bridgestone dueller A/T

I'm not really sure what I have or what's the biggest tyre I can get on without changing the rim. I will need some good A/T or mud tyres soon too.

ahhhhhh i would say u have a 15x8 rim then, although given the tyre size, u may have made a typo with the tyre size

235/75R15 are typically installed on a 15x6" rim (from the factory), although I expect they'll fit a 15x8" rim too. Can you post a few pics of tyre and rim, from different angles? How it looks may help us figure out your rim size.

However: Your 235/75R15 is essentially a 29" tyre. If you have 15x6" rims, I don't know how much bigger you can go without new rims. 30x9.5 should be OK.

If your rims are 15x7", you can easily fit 31x10.5R15 tyres, which will give you a handy increase for offroad work.

If your rims are 15x8" you might be able to fit 33x12.5 - I'm not sure. And you may also have clearance problems. You'd probably be able to fit 32x11.5 (I think that's a reasonably common size), with perhaps some minor rubbing.
