Post by GUEEY »

Hey.

I am looking at buying the best battery that will cover standard electrical duties and double up for occational winching, i dont have the room for a second battery.

For a zook you would only need a 9V battery

On that cat website, have a look around and find the dealer locator, select Australia and type in sydney, it will then pop up with the answers you seek!

Pretty sure there is a bloke on the forum, in the sydney area (has a 60 series IIRC) that works at a cat dealership, he may pipe up and could be able to sort something for you.
Cheers,
Dan.

It would be nice if that price was still current! Unless your getting a trade price?

Got quoted $208 + gst. Still a lot better than the prices on optimas at the moment.

The Odyssey PC2150 seems appealing.

I found a price at Extreme Batteries in Lilydale - $580 inc.

Went to Battery World to see their price - a princely "about $750."

Does anyone have any other suggested sources?

we looked at these, but they were expensive as and they are only marginally better than the cat.

I'm glad I stumbled across this thread. I'm in the market for a new battery. I might check out the CAT ones. There is a Westrac right near my joint.

Hey chimpboy, i found lillydale to be the best place when i was looking. Im pretty sure he might be the importer. When i bought mine he tested infront of me to show it was good and told me how to look after it.

It has no problems running my stereo all night and the fridge for 4 days straight and still started no worries.

Full warranty for offroad which was important for me specially when optima wouldnt come to the party when i had 2 fail in 6 months (yellow + red). I havnt seen a higher cranking deep cycle battery yet apart from the higher up oddysee's.

Optima have just released a new battery, about the same size as the N70Z ... dual purpose, would handle your starting and winching ... PM me if you want a price.

Nothing secret about the pricing. Just a few battery retailers get upset at the prices.... and I like to ensure that the courier delivery is also included.
But eg.
Optima D27M (800cca, 66ah, 305x127x225) Blue Top Dual Purpose, RRP $475.00 Offer to Outers @ $388 + freight

Exide Extreme is 620cca and 80a/h. Full price from K-mart is $210 (I bought one a few weeks ago. N70EXL). If you wait until one of their 25% discount days, you'll get one for $157.50.

Kmart tend to have random 25% off car stuff days without advertising.

The one listed is a Maintenance Free Battery, still has caps though.

Cat do offer other batteries with no vent caps, upto 1500cca, but they are large

I've noticed that. I wish they stocked non-crap tools.

For me, the battery area is enclosed and shows signs of acid damage due to the battery that's in there now, so I am keen on a fully sealed.
