Having trouble with diesel motor
I have a LN106 2.8 diesel. When starting it bangs into life as if the timing was out but seemed to run fine when going . i had a new timing belt fitted but that never helped as the motor was a little tired i replaced it myself with a 5l motor and fitted the new timing belt and tension er . I aliened all the timing marks and all seemed good. Over a few days of driving the original problem of very rough starting came back. Yesterday i started it in the driveway backed out and reversed in and stopped the motor. A couple of hours later i went to start it and would not start and when it did it sounded very tappy. Anyone have a guess at what might be wrong
Think fuel must be the problem as its almost the only common denominator between the two engines.oldmate wrote:Just a guess off what you've said, but it could be a fuel problem, ie dirty fuel, blocked pickup and/or lines. If it's only a starting problem, and it runs fine other wise it may be a glow plug issue.
Thanks for all the replies it helps to get a few ideas
