G'day all.
Got a problem with the Diesal pump on the 2H.
When i prime the thing, the plunger will only pump a couple of times 2 max, then i can't push it down to screw it up, unless i bleed the fuel filter.
It primes the fuel filter all right though.
Is this normal on a 2H, cause it's not on the 1HZ that i have.
And no the thing wont start.

mine did the same thing never worked out what was up with it but once it was going the motor run like a champ.....
any way the way i did it was prime it up untill you can't prime on more then crank away then re-prime and re-crank or get some one to prime at the same time as your cranking it....i was told that it was not normal....and took me about 2 hrs the first time to get it going

with what he is saying and if it is like mine was you can prime it up and opne the nipple on top of the fuel filter and get all the air out but can't seem to get the fuel up to the injectors you can crack the top of the injectors and prime it up but no fuel will come out and the prime pump will still get hard untill you can't prime it no more ever with the injector crack open like it is blockedoldmate wrote:When ever I primed this type of pump I always had the nipple open with a hose and one way valve on it, pumped away until bubble-less fuel came out, and it was all good. Much like a brake system really.
Yep Nat you're right, that's exactly what was happening.
Any way on a + note, got the thing going, called in a favour and got a couple of Diesel mechanics out .
Dunno what the problem was but they did the same thing i tried, but they hooked up a jump starter thing that starts Dozers, and the peice of S*** started right up, but the primeing is still an issue but at least it starts

Did you bleed only at the secondary filter, or did you also bleed the bleeder at the pump? I had this problem just yesterday after stuffing around with my water trap under the chassis, couldnt get the thing to start or even turn over, bled the secondary filter, then bled the injection pump (as per the Haynes manual I have) and she cranked over straight away. Until I bled the pump, I too had the same issue whereas the hand primer would not go sown enough to screw in, after bleeding from pump, it screwed straight in.
