Amp Meter

Post by PJ.zook »

I have a Speco amp meter here which goes from -60 amps to +60 amps that is run in series from alternator to battery.
Im wondering has anyone experienced problems with voltage drop or anything like that across the gauge?
Also my alternator goes to 80amp, does it matter if you pull 80 amp through the gauge which reads a max of 60amp?

Ampmeters are best installed in the bin.
It will probably not be good for your gauge to have 80A running through it.

I concur with the above two. They made some sense (not much, but some) back when automotive generators didn't pump out much current, and weren't running many accessories. But they are no good any more.
