60 series sahara dual air con.........

Post by khany427 »

hey guys, we just bought a 86 fj62 sahara and the rear air con has been removed.
anyway the air con needs regassing so am wondering if theres anything i need to do or check like the pipe work that i guess is still there behind the trim in the back. does it need to be plugged off etc?
im not sure how the dual aircon works in them , thats why im asking.
also whats the chances of getting another rear aircon setup??

You will need to plug gas lines in the rear of vehicle, as the front and rear A/C lines are connected. I would recommend flushing the lines as dirt and foriegn bodys aren't liked by the compressor. Also you will need to replace the receiver dryer as it removes the moisture from the gas, so if the rear air has been removed it will have a lot of moisture in the system. If you leave moisture in A/C system it will still work but not very cold. The duel A/C is controled by blower fans [eg: If you only want the front AC on only the front fan turns on, ect.] As for finding a rear evaporator [A/C unit] I would try a 4wd wreckers. Hope that helps.
