Has anyone used the Exedy Commodore sports tuff clutch (part # GMK-6334HD) in their conversion?
I know marks say "just use std clutch" but I seem to recall that you could get away with a heavy duty clutch if you use a GU slave cylinder???
If anyone can shed light on this it would be massively appreciated :lol:

well with my gu 5.0l conversion that just about ready to be done, iv got new gu slave and master's and running a heavy duty clutch!
as you said the marks kit sais do not run heavy duty clutch but i think this is to do with the distance's from "throw out bearing" someone please correct me if im wrong!!
the heavier clutch has more clamping pressure which therefore has a wider pressure plate and shortens the distances somewhere which may have to be address..

can tell i know what im talking about..lol

but no way was i using a standed clutch..

I fitted a injected 5ltr into a shorty and used a one ton clutch, and had a problem with the clutch not disengaging properly. All I had to do was change the master cyl to the gu one. It bolts straight up to clutch booster, but has a different valving to the gq one. Gq is 7/8 and the GU is 15/16. Fixed the problem for me straight away. good luck

You can also have the slave cylinder sleeved down to get the same result.
Thats the way I had to go in the end with the Windsor in my Maverick as my master is not power boosted and the GU setup wont bolt on.

Use GU slave. PBR part number JB4198. Should be less than $45. Unbolt and bolt on. Bleed. Quicker.

The bloke at repco says JB4198 is the part # for the GQ slaves :? ???
Apparently PBR dont have any of the GU ones left and not sure when they will have more anyway.

The bloke at nissan says there are 2 different GU ones...

Can anyone else confirm PBR or Nissan part #'s as to the GU slave that bolts up to GQ box that I need to use (VN 5L on to GQ1991 diesel 5 spd using exedy HD clutch (GMK-6334HD))?

Am taking the next fornight off work to get my ute going so pretty desperate for confirmed info.

Any assistance hugely appreciated

Marks also give you a spacer to move ir forward.

I ran the marks clutch and a and it still didnt disengage, only untill I got the GU master it worked.

That was with standard clutch.
