5.12 diff gears

do you fit the whole vit diff centres or just the ring and pinions?

Gears only.

The vitara 3rd member is made of cheese.

and you can only use front vit gears as the rear centres are too large to fit into the sierra carrier

yes, and in a four pinion carrier you will have to secure the cross shafts from moving too much.
