If you're talking 'similar to Black Rat', then are we assuming:

* Entry is by invitation to interested clubs only?
* Up to 8 courses, with marshaling help from invited clubs?
* Individual members of the invited clubs are therefore the only competitors (i.e. no 'non-club' members?)
* Courses to suit near-standard 4WDs?
* Family friendly event?

From the 'Black Rat Challenge' days, I know our club enjoyed the "participation and co-operation" feel of the event. We had a lot of fun, and it wasn't about sheep stations!

As for you Thunder: pack ya woollies & thermals mate!!!! :twisted:

That about sums up the event, even though it hasn't been held for a few years and it's at a new location, the basics that made the BlackRat such a popular event will remain unchanged.

The cost, details about the 4 vehicle classes and the location will be supplied to the invited clubs shortly. This info will not be posted on a public forum, but I will add that all vehicles are catered for, from stock standard up to the highly modified. And they all drive different sections of a stage or completely different stages, the standard vehicles don't drive the same tracks as the more modified vehicles.

We'll be accepting a maximum of 120 entries, and there will be an option to have 2 drivers per vehicle.

Like previous BlackRats this will be a competitor only event.

We're glad to be back hosting events, hopefully this will be the first of many at this great new location.

Richard,
got a question regarding recoveries.
Are we self recovering in Outlaw, open or modified, or is this all coming down to driver skill rather than how some can hang off a winch rope?

Hugh, there won't be any winching on any of the stages during the actual event, but they will be used if needed for recoveries. A few guys from our club will be the recovery team if anyone needs help. And we'll be designing the stages with easy recoveries in mind.

Wish i knew earlier . Already nominated for superior all terrain challenge in QLD that weekend. Could have drove 2 hours instead of 12.

We've made a change to the rules for Black Rat, we'll now be allowing vehicles with full Hydraulic steering to enter Outlaw Class. An email has been sent to all 27 invited clubs outlining the change.
Thanks to everyone that has returned their entry form, reicipts will be sent shortly.

Just an update on the event, as most of you have probably seen, it's looking like there will be a rockcrawling / unregistered event held on the property at the same time as Black Rat. This will not affect the Black Rat challenge in any way as it's a totally separate event! All competitors will be free to spectate at either event.

Everyone who's sent an entry in should have been emailed a receipt, and for those that didn't supply an email address they will be posted tomorrow.

Thanks,

Richard.

The gates will be open on Friday the 5th of June from 2pm till 10.30pm. And then open again at 6am on Saturday. Class verification will be held on Friday arvo and Saturday morning.

Like previous Black Rat challenges all 8 stages will be open both days but competitors will be restricted to driving 4 per day. There will be no running order, part of the event is choosing the order you drive the stages to give you the best result.
The event will start after the bulk of vehicles have been through class verification on Saturday morning, we think this will be around 9.30am

How far from Hargreaves ?

Post by Pigroota »

Richard ,

How far from Hargreaves is it to Jamies place ?
For those of us that are heading over from Orange it may be quicker / easier to come across via the Macquarie River crossing & Hargreaves , rather than driving all the way around to Mudgee.

Yes, we'll have some firewood cut, but you can also bring a chainsaw along to cut more.
