G16A qtns!

Post by get it up there »

Hey there peoples!! Im currently doing a eng conversion on my zook.. my zook is a 1991 WT sierra, and the donor is a 1995 vitara, G16A EFI 1.6L. I am after a wiring diagram for it. I have found/been given numerous diagrams, but none of them are matching my ECM pinout. The suzukiinfo site is down, so i cant download them from there. Can anyone please help?!?!?! (Thanks nicbeer and BenT for helping so far to!!) :armsup: :armsup:

Put up some of the wire colours u have. and do u have frontcut or just loom and engine? guessing you have the later airflow meter (different in the post made my A1 here (http://www.outerlimits4x4.com/ftopic169140.php) ?

I got the whole wiring out of the vehicle.. wasnt a single bit left in the vehicle he said!!
The air flow meter plug has 3 wires, black, grey with black stripe, and blue with black stripe.
The ECM has this written on it "E331B641B".. an the first few wires (seen in pic" are:
Top row: White & green light green & black red blank
Bot row: white & black light green & yellow light gr & red pink

thought i might just edit this post to keep it all neat. so far this is what iv got.

blue w black trace = power (+12V from main relay, main relay switched by computer)
black w blue trace = earth
black w green trace = earth
black = earth

BIG PLUG
white w green trace = injector
white w black trace = injector
red = injector
green w red trace = injector
All 4 injector wires are larger diameter, this is how you tell the diff with other similar colours eg. mine had two green w red trace.

green w yellow trace = EGR SV valve (I know its for emmision controll but anyone know exactly how it works?)
white (thin wire) = distributor
red w yellow trace = one of the coolant temp sensors
grey with red trace = throtle pos sensor
green w red trace = throtle pos sens, (starts as grey at sensor and does a colour change)
grey w yellow trace = throtle pos sensor, coolant temp and air temp sens, O2 sens (would like to know what the sig out of this wire is if any one knows)
red with blue trace = Oxygen sens
pink (fat) = oxygen sens
grey w white trace = airflow sense

SMALLER PLUG
blue w white trace = throtle pos sensor
green w white trace = evap SV valve (anyone know what this valve does?)
orange = distributor (ignitor)
blue w orange trace = power steer switch
yellow = to your start switch
yellow w black trace = to start sw and aircon
black w red trace = to your start switch
white (fat wire) = power from battery
pink (thin) = fuel pump relay switch sig

violet = diagnosis conector
blue w red trace = diagnosis conector
blue w yellow trace = diagnosis conector
violet w yellow trace = diagnosis conector
blue= diagnosis conector

tazmanier wrote: black w blue trace = earth (0V) What is (OV)??

red with blue trace = Oxygen sensor? (dont know bout this one) Mine also says this goes to the oxygen sensor..

black w red trace = to your start switch (key) How did you get this?!?!? It says on mine it is for the "inhibitor swtich".. but what is that!?!?

wires i dont know about (both plugs, any one fill in the blanks?)
brown (mine says resistor coil)
purple (my plugs dont have a purple wire as per the diagram)
blue w red trace (Mine says diagnosis connector)
blue with yellow trace (my plugs dont have this wire as per the diagram)
pink (fat) (not sure yet)
pink (thin) (not sure yet)
yellow w black trace (mine says aircon)
pink w yellow trace (my plugs dont have this wire as per the diagram)
black (says ?earth on mine)
blue (mine says ECU power relay)

Now that i'v actually written this out i can see how little information iv actually given, sorry bout that but it has been a solid two evenings of labbeling, might help a bit.
Has helped heaps mate.. hopefully we can work together and help each other through this madness!! Also, i have added some answers in this qoute!! ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^

Sorry mate shouldnt have put anything in brackets. Earth = chassis, negative terminal of the battery.

Yea as i said in PM dont have the O2 sensor but it makes sence now blue w black trace is the +12V, black is the earth and grey w black trace turns into red w blue trace for the O2 sensor output to the computer. (good stuff!)

black w red trace does go to the inhibitor sw on a automatic but it also splices off to the start contact of the start switch. being that im not using the auto trans i just ignored all the auto stuff on the diagram. this might need some more investigation another night. iv got a diagram that as far as i can tell is the same one as nicbears one that he sent me, which should be the one your working off? any way ill send you all my stuff and you can just delete it if you want.

Its not bad someone else is doing this as well:)

Hello again friends!! I am nearly ready to install the 1.6 airbox etc. I want to hook it up to my snorkel, and im wondering if i can use the airflow sensor out of the 1.6 airbox, and adapt it to the standard 1.3 airbox? The reason i want to use the 1.3 airbox is cause of the lack of room for the 1.6 airbox. Can anyone help pelase???? Tar :)

Hey.. this is exactly the same as mine!! What exactly is the "diognosis connector"?!?!?!
The diagnosis connector is used by the dealers and auto elecs (that have the right gear) to diagnose engine faults. Mine has two, an internal one and and external one. But I have mounted both of them in my glove box along with the computer. I'll show you thursday!

The OBD II plug requires the diagnosis equipment to be connected to read data.

The diagnostic plug doesn't. the FSM explains the two wires on the plug that need to be jumped in order to read flash trouble codes via the check engine light.

This is a very useful feature. The wires that require jumping can be connected via a switch, so, check engine light comes on, throw switch, read touble codes.

Why havent u got room for the 1.6 airbox.

i have mine mounted in the rhs corner for the engine bay hooked up to the 3" snorkel.

if u want to use the vit airflow sensor u should be able to take off the section and adapt it to the 1.3 box but i think the 1.6 has bigger intake hose.,

Oh ok.. i was under the impression the 1.6 airbox would have to be nice and close to the engine (like they are standard). So if i run a hose from the passenger side (where it will connect to the motor), around the front of the motor, to the front RHS corner (where i will replace the 1.3 airbox with the 1.6 airbox), and then connect the 1.6 box onto the snorkel.. this will be ok?? (my snorkel is on the D/S) :)

hmm i see what u are facing.

Yeh think the inlet tract will be too long. swap snorkel sides or run two :) one as a fake.

wonder if baleno inlet manifold is worth getting so it comes out on the lhs?

i have a baleno full inlet manifold at home and beleive they are the same as the vit setup (FWD instead of RWD thou) but not sure

I dont see it being a big issue. The intake pipe should be fine at any length you could sensibly run in a Suzuki engine bay. just try to keep the bend at large radii, and sweeping, and of course to not run undersize diametre duct. Only sharp bends or obstructions really upset the air flow at all. The inlet on my fathers Hilux has about 2.5m of ducting, with a 120 degree bend in it, its happy and gets all the air it wants; we are still to conect up the pre-airbox ducting too.

Sounds pretty true what your saying highway star.. just spoke to 2 mechanics, and both said if its only a metre or 2 like im talking about, it wont be an issue!! See how we go anyways :)

Another qtn please!! I have the dash/cluster from the vitara that i got the G16A out of. Now in regards to the VSS, would it be easier and quicker if i adapt the whole vit cluster into the sierra dash?? Would this then mean that the VSS is all done, and also the oil/water/tacho will be all happy, and no mods will be needed to get it all going? The donor vit was a manual to.. and i'm using my sierra 5 speed.
