The bearing caps on the end of the uni cross go through an acceleration and deceleration phase, as the driveshaft rotates - the greater the misalignment of the joint, the greater distance the bearing will travel around the uni cross, and the greater the accel and decel speeds. the speeds and distance should closely match each other on both ends of the driveshaft to help reduce vibes. To match these speeds and distance, the drive flange of the transfer and the pinion flange on the diff should remain as parallel as possible (but there other ways), when you accelerate and decelerate when driving, the pinion is kicking up and down (as you have mentioned) and the drive flanges are changing phase. So yes, a trackbar will help to virtually eliminate axle wrap (depending on design).

Well after searching, this is the most relevant thread on trackbars, but its still pretty light on in the tech.

Anyone else with a write up/ pics/ diagrams of their track bar designs, and what to avoid/make sure in the build (do's and don'ts)?

Its for my 84 lux.

I would love a little more info myslef .. also has anyone used a track bar\torque rod thingy on the front diff ?? I have seen several vehicles (mine included) that could really benifit from decreased wrap in the front end ...

I still run a torque rod on the front of the camolux, for additional rigidity in the front, with spring clamps still closed. The only thing limiting the flex in the rig is my short shocks, but I'm not after any more flex, so the torque rod does not cause a problem.

Have a look on the front of the solid axle hilux, all have the torque rod fitted from the factory, a good source of pics await you at the local car yard...

RUFF's pics pretty much covered it all, although I mounted mine a little lower on the housing, and the shackle is under compression. I can take a pic of the mount welded on the horsecollar.
