engine blew on the way back from cruiser, towed home.
bent then snapped a rear radial arm on a hill climb, moved the car off the track then the diff moved into the guard. stripped the broken bits off and went home, clamped them together with some home made shakles and u bolt braced with some 25x5x300 strips of steel top and bottom went back to cruiser. moved the car about 10m then prop shaft fell out and diff came lose again. went home really finally got spare radial arm a few days later, then went back to cruiser to put it in.

Took my maruti out for a bit of an ecu tuning session today and somehow ended up a few km's into the bush in the middle of nowhere.
When I noticed the car overheating.
pulled over and realised the top radiator hose has blown off. its a suss fit due to gti engine conversion.
Downside - i had no tools in the car as im changing to a new toolbox, and no spare fluids.
Then it started to flog down rain.
Managed to undo the hose clamps with an old key off my keyring and correctly refit the hose.
Then filled the radiator with fresh rainwater from a nearby rut runoff.
Scooping it up with an old cigarette packet i found nearby.
Managed to get me home nicely Macguyver style.

ive ran our of fuel 3 times battery went flat each time trying to start it up again ( shit battery) luckly i was close to home each time so got towed home from dad

On weekend - finally 1st CV went. hard hit to DS on bank. unlocked hub and drove home. 80k trip. was careful on drive.

And the one time I didn't make it home under my own power. Blew head gasket, made it halfway down the highway, overheated, turned engine off, seized. Try not to turn the engine off from hot, if you suspect head gasket has gone. (although the engine might already be stuffed, it may get you home.)

Otherwise carry lots of WD40, engine oil, fuses water and tools. Oh and a tyre repair kit, cable ties and Racing tape. Should get you home most times.

I carry all of the above, plus spark plugs, radiator/heater/fuel/vacuum hose and clamps, amalgamating tape, araldite, sikaflex, electrical wire and tape, lightbulbs, CAS for my dizzy, fencing wire, welding rods and leads, various packets of bolts, ratchet strap, transfer mounts, torch with multiple spare batteries and enough tools to remove all the common fixtures in my car.
It sounds like a lot, but it's all stored out of the way under my tray ready for when someone needs it.
Noone wants to breakdown, but some some forward thinking can have you prepared for the worst should it happen.
