g'day ,want to repaint the back of my 75 series cab, just dont understand the " 1 part color by volume to 1.5 parts thinners (100% - 150%) by volume"

he's obiously got acrylic and yes thats about right.
you can go thicker ie 1:1 dut it all depends on the paint ,temp ,gun etc
but 1:1.5 wont hurt anything. And you will get a much better recsult by using acryic thinners instead of GP thinners .
PS Acrylic hates being sprayed in cold condition and will BLOOM or turn milky if its too cold ie under about 15 deg c

or 100ml paint to 150ml thinners.. Depends on the size of the pot on your gun.
Start at 1.5:1 and step up to 2:1 or even 2.5:1 for final coat will give a much better finish.. Much smaller "orange peel" effect. Makes it easier to rub before buffing.
If you don't put enough thinners in the paint will come out dusty and stringy like fairy floss.
Too much thinner and it will run like water.

Only when it has been cut with 1200 then 2000 wet and dry and buffed. Comes up like glass. But then as said aboe post, bit soft for wheelin'. Great to spray if you dont have a booth and a bit of shit gets in the paint as its got to be cut and buffed anyway for a quality finish.dv8666 wrote:Acrylic is perfect for a show quality finish, bit soft for off road though...
