I currently purchased a std Rollbar for my coily but it doesnt look overly straight ( thanks to good old Ebay) so im still chasing one, does anyone have a contact or a rough price on what you should pay, also mines aprox a 2' or 50mm, can you fitt a bitt bigger one in say 2.5" 65mm and not have issues with the rear seats and soft top??,
any help would be great

A mate has a rollbar that he removed from my old zook body that i sold him, he may be willing to sell it, i will show him this thread.

is this a for sale thread? or a wanted thread?

There is no such thing as an alloy "rollbar" well not the sort that you buy on ebay anyway. That is nothing more than a shiny couple of bits of tube that makes you feel all nice and safe until you actually need to use it.

If you want a true rollbar expect to pay a good $1500+ unless you are handy with a welder and are good at fabrication.

There have been quite a few threads about rollbars and cages that are worth having a read

An alloy one is better than (nothing) just the standard b-pillar hoop in a soft top though grimbo. Yeah it probably won't save your life in a high speed rollover but in a low speed flop it'll help...maybe!

And that's the real problem. It might help. If it doesn't, it just creates something more to hit inside the car, something rear seat passengers will definitely hit in the back of the car, and perhaps provides a false sense of security.

In the case of a mostly cosmetic rollbar, Id say the downsides generally outweigh the perceived benefits.

The important thing to realise is that a rollbar isn't there to save the car, it's going to be totalled anyway. It's there to protect the driver in a roll that would otherwise be lethal. I've seen lots and lots of sierra rolls and I've only ever seen one that could have resulted in injury, rollcage or not.

Yes, an alloy rollbar could be as effective as a steel one. Expect it to be more expensive than an effective steel rollbar.

PS posting photos of heavily smashed cars with alloy rollbars in them that looked effective doesn't prove anyhting - there's n way of knowing how much damage was prevented by the cage.

u can see that the alloy roll bar will just push over next time im going steel with the brace (diagonal bar in the middle) to stop it pushing over like that i i reckon the car would have looked similar if it didnt have the weak alloy bar in
