2000 4.5 GU value??

Post by MNBS 4x4 »

I have been looking around for several weeks now at various differant GU's with not much luck, but yesterday i went to see a feb 2000 4.5 petrol one owner(in his seventies) with 100,000 KM's and FSH, in absolute mint condition, when i was looking underneith it still looks like new, still the shiny bolts etc( it lives in a garage)
Other ones i have been looking at have been any where from $17500 to $22000 and all with high k's and quite rough(2000 and 2001's).
The lowest I can get the guy down to is $22500 (It was advertised at $25000), does this sound like a reasonable price given the km"s and condition etc.

Cheers

Sounds like a well kept truck, but pretty pricey. Petrol GU1's are not a very desirable truck, mainly due to their fuel consumption.

Depends on what you plan on doing with it. If its gonna get used off road quite a bit, I don't see the point in getting one that is immaculate.

First GU 4.5 I bought in Perth June 2007, $15,500 with 175,000km. Some scratches and marks but FSH and drove good. I hammered it off road but the scratches/dings didn't bother me coz it had some to start with.

Second GU 4.5 I bought in Adelaide in August 2008, $14,500 with 230,000km. Had a burnt valve but it had heaps of goodies on it. Very good condition other than the burnt valve(which cost $1600 to fix with a few other bits).

I'm not saying I got good deals but I had a few to choose from each time I looked to buy at similar prices, none were close to $25,000.

Moral - 4.5 GUs are hard to get good money for. I would not pay $22,500 for a standard 4.5, regardless of condition especially if it was stock.

Hold off for a bit on that one, he won't sell it for that price. Check it out again when he advertises it for a lower price!

A couple examples here:

PS. you can have mine with all the goodies for $22,500!!!

If all the others you've seen are shit, it maybe the area you live they cop a hard time. If your willing to pay it, then it maybe worth it.
I think its overpriced.

i picked up my sept 2000 model 4.5 gu for $14,500 with 200,000k's 2 months ago it is in very good condition(looks like it was used by a couple oldys for touring). As others have said they are a little heavy on fuel (15l per 100k's to 28l per 100k's depending on the weight of your right foot) with a 3" lift and 33" muddies. but i think 17,500 - 22,500 is a bit over priced.
