Longfields and Landcruiser axels

Post by hulsty »

Hows is the strength of longfield CV joints combined with standard Landcruiser axels in the front of a FJ73? will they hold up to 35'' pedes and a locker? or am I better off saving for the full kit with longfield axels?

I have the full kit and I would suggest you wait and save up. It isn't that much more and you can get the extra strength of the 30 spline shafts.

I don't think warranty will cover the birfield in the event the std axle spline is damaged, which will in turn damage the spline in the birfield.

Same goes for the hub gears.

Gday, i just got the cv and hub gear, had em in a while now and all good. Still breaking rear axles though. Bobby fr longfield says the toyota axles up front with an arb air locker and 35,36inch tyre all good..

correct

plus the axles act like a spring or torsion bar due to their construction further reducing the shock loading of your drive train components.

Are there more types of 40's? Or do I just need to order front axle set for BJ40 and install them in my LJ70 front axle housing?
