g16b sierra headers

Post by dad »

Hey all,
got my g16b engine in with a benT kit, and the (lower) flange on the headers is hitting the chassis.

I think i read about this when i was researching the conversion, and remember reading about a set of off the shelf vitara extractors that clear the chassis.

anyone know what im after?

cheers,
nic

I dont think anyone has yet found the perfect set of off the shelf extractors for the conversion into a sierra, at least not when i did conversion. But myself and a few others are using Wildcat extractors to suit a Vitara which fit ok, but i found i had to chop some of the engine mount to get them to fit nicely. Some from memory have not needed to chop anything out.

i have the ebay ones from woolongong and they hit at the engine mount, done a little bit of fine tuning and it seems fine now.

Seems one set will hit the mount, another set or brand will hit further down on the chassis rail

As in PERFECT?

where did you get yours...? what are they worth.

ive managed to get the standard headers to clear the chassis by a fanny hair, by pissing off the springs from the (dont know what to call it) flexi flange and putting shorter bolts in . but im not 100% happy with it, and will be making up the new zorst on thurs...

Jimny headers clear the engine mounts on a sierra but they kick under the gearbox once they go horizontal. If you are building a new exhaust it's no big deal, but it's not the neatest.

Vitara headers require clearancing of the engine mount as discussed.

I've fitted Jimny headers to sierras with G13BB's and vitara headers to sierras with G16B's

I cut and modified the jimny headers to run straight and have maximum ground clearance. This wasn't required with the vitara headers as they already run straight.

If this is the same guy I talked to, he said he can put a g16b flange on a set of sierra extractors specially for g16 conversions. Which is what I ended up doing myself. Works a treat.
