98 Triton with live axle swap and gen 3 chev

98 Triton with live axle swap and gen 3 chev
Using 79 series landcruiser front and rear diffs, and factory toyota coil hats, then fitting a HSV gen 3 chev.
Will be an awesome truck.
Your using a Tojo full floating rear so broken 28 spline rear axles shouldn't be a problem.
Rear discs and larger front 4 pot calipers so should stop fine but will have to look at the Mitsi 23.8mm master - I don't think it will supply enough volume.
I used braided lines and thicker 100 Series pads in the front (had 4 pot V6 4 Runner calipers) but I had to machine the pad edges to get them to fit and then it stopped well.
Sorted out the front propshaft and pitman arm ?
There are also crawler gears available for the Triton FYI.

I just luv my "clacker Jabber"
Looks good, Doubt the std gearbox and transfer will be used as the pumpkin is on the wrong side in the photo's... SO that will mean the crawler gears won't work.....

Yer would look at doing it again, but cant get you a price till this one is finished, to many unknowns atm. but if your keen email me at a later date and ill see what I can do.xagtho wrote:Nice work cammo, after this is all said and done you should be a master at this conversion, any chance you would like to do it again to mine? I can supply the motor and diffs.
Cheers
As you can see the engine is in, rear cross member will get made today, then we can measure up the tailshafts and order them, still need to level up the rear suspension, wire-up the engine and get the headers/exhaust made. Hoping to have it off to the auto elec by the end of next week.
well done cammo
what i like the most is the fact that you are getting stuck into it. its been just over a month from your first post to now and you have come a long way. if it was me i would still be thinking about it.
are you getting advice from a engineer on what to do? or are you just going to present it and hope for the best?

Like most things on this car it was custom made,Baker_24 wrote:yeah i agree with jason with the speedy build. the other thing is where did u get that rear sports bar looks sick with the dual bars. cheers baker
If you havnt picked it, the ute tub is of a single cab, 480mm has been added to the chassis so the wheels fitted into the tub wheel arches.
Yeah thats what I discovered when I did measuring. I could be shagged doing a V8 into the Paj but SFA as well, too much work for me.Croydon4wd wrote:Yer should fit, but the idea of the live axle was to get the Gen 3 to fit, dont think it will fit with the IFScalicivirus wrote:I like it, I like it a lot.
Could I do small block into Gen 1 paj. Mmm time for the tape measure.
Looks great though mate, well done.
Why did you go the s/cab tub? Did you have to lengthen chassis to make the setup work, or did you just want a bigger tub? Cheers.
The ute tubs was swapped over sometime ago for extra load carrying, yes the chassis was streched 480mm, this is getting built as a work truck more then anything, extra load carrying and more power to tow a big diesel gen for welding and 3 phase power, the only other car that had the same size tray or power of the gen3 was an F-Truck, GMC, read that as $80k plus, or spend 20-30k on a truck that he alreadys owns and have something that will do the same job, but look alot cooler and differant to everyone else.
Will put some more pics up soon, just got towed out to the auto elec to wire up the motor and elec windows. had some custom door trims made, should be a runner within 3 weeks
