FUEL CONSUMPTION ON A 4.0L PRADO V6

Post by lukes4x4 »

As above just want to know what fuel consumption a v6 4.0l prado gets, what size fuel tank, etc. also if i was to tow a car trailer with total weight of load and trailer being approx. 2200kg what would i roughly get. also difference between auto and manual.

I know toyota have specs but i would rather a real life answer .

thanks people .

Dad's has 2x 90L fuel tanks with one guage, standard. When both full, the guage reads full, empties first tank then '90L' lights up on the dash to let you know you're on the second tank.

He has driven from Brisbane, to Bundaberg and back to Maryborough and used half of the first tank, so around 45L, without the caravan but with 2 others guys and stuff for meetings. I'd have to look at google maps to see how many klm's although he has said it has better economy than the 80 I now have, well durr, and tows his 17 foot caravan easier as well. His is the 5 speed auto.

He is doing a flying trip to Longreach in the next week or two, two days up, 1 back so I'll get him to keep some records.

Going by google, so not real specific, Brisbane to Bundy & back to Maryborough is about 470klm's.

about 11.5 to 13.0 is pretty standard with the kids in the back on highway pending on your driving style

Towing my Lux on the car trailer behind ours the other week used 18.3L/100ks although that was predominantly on the highway and fairly flat highway. In comparison my crewman with the trailer used 28L/100Ks on the same roads :? The Lux and trailer is right on the 2500kg legal limit of the Prado.

Over Christmas we drove to Mackay with the camper trailer loaded right up 2 adults and 3 kids on board including fridges and all the usual camping gear. We also had the a/c on 95% of the way, it used 14.93L/100ks

Just drove to Sydney in it this Friday with an empty 5x10 trailer 2 adults 3 kids again a/c on the whole way and the usual luggage in the thing. I just filled it up yesterday with 13.15L/100ks.

I have noticed that doing 110 over 100 makes a fairly big difference to the fuel consumption. Running the larger tyres hasnt helped although exhaust and unichip will fix that.

Auto mate when towing the Lux I leave it out of top gear unless its a really flat road and then drop it out again up hills.
