No rego would be great . It would be good if all comps had no rego for the top class. An extra $900 a year to spend on mods.

The dash for cash will be a quick bit of excitement for everyone before a social evening. By choosing those 5 teams it eliminates the top 3 teams and no one will know who is in for the grab at the cash until maybe 1-2 hours before it happens. It might be Stage 1 in reverse or something along those lines.

I am still sending e-mails to find out about the rego issue, would be good if we didnt need it.

does it become an all out buggyfest then?
or will there be rules on panels and chassis percentages?
or does it become 2 classes then, rego and unrego?
i think im always in the minority pushing for rego only.

This is what I don't get. you keep pushing for rego, when we all know that requiring rego means nothing. I can get a plate and stick it on my buggy and it would be about as road legal as your truck. Rego is not the answer.

If there was an unreg class I would be keen to bring my buggy

i think the main thing we need to get sorted here is!
if there was to be buggy's there would have to be more classes
1. smaller cars to 35-36's if they wanted too.
2. full chassis and std body with small mods up to 42's
3. full open class for minimum chassis/tube buggy's
that would be a great comp to watch.

Lets face it , at the end of the day every one is there for the thrill of the drive . It doesn't matter what you drive , you are out to beat the track and better what you have done before.
I don't have a problem competing with buggies so long as it is acknowledged that anything without a full or at least diff to diff original chassis is one , & they are handicapped adequately .
They are built to do it so make them run the bonus lines without reward that would be a good start & help even up the field.

First comments from insurance companies is all vehicles must be registered.

Our thoughts for this year are no buggies. But still one class for all.

not to get personal or anything...
but my pos is fully engineered, all numbers match to rego sweet, i have full length chassis. only thing not engineered is over 37inch tyres.
i went to the trouble and expense of having it built to be engineerable.
why should i be penalisd competing against rigs who arent rego'd or who didnt go to the trouble or expense.

I agree with keeping it all one class and im not to fussed with having buggies there. Just means alot more work for the organisers to make harder tracks etc. Seems alot of work for little gain.

I would also like to see full chassis rigs only or as described chassis from diff to diff.

The buggies/bodied rigs are just a given that they are going to win. If they are going to be allowd in then they need to have some kind of points handicap.

At the end of the day these guys just go around cleaning up prize money in every comp because no ones want to come down on them and say 'you are driving a buggy'. I think these types of vehicles have their place at tough truck etc but not at Toperi/Willowglen and its even pushing it at Nissan Trials.

I think it sort of takes the spirit out of a competition a little when you have vehicles that should be competing in WeRock in events such as Toperi.

On a side note...........Toperi last year was the best comp i have competed in to date. The tracks were great fun and the viewing was good as well. Also to not have to move my car every 5 minutes meant that i could watch all the other competitors.

You give any of the drivers that drive rigs ..that a supposebly a BUGGY ..another competitors rig that competes at Toperi ...and they will drive the ass off and still most probably win the event ......its becasue they CAN DRIVE ...fa.rk give all youse complaining a TISSUE :!:

The others that dont care are the people that can see the difference ....for me its all about competing against those that have all the best gear ...to see just how well I stack up against them ........its a good feeling to be able to knock off others that have better gear / vehicles ..............

Anyway thanks to Toperi for investigating the possibiltys ... and as has been noted above ...its seems to be clear ...hope the event goes wells with no issues

DRS the problem now is in the eyes of the RTA they dont give a rats arse if its engineered or not, all past engineering will be null and void real soon. In thier eyes you will be allowed 50mm max lift above STD, tyres or suspension, so that means on a bigger wagon 33" tyres no lift, 31" tyres and 2" suspension lift. As well as a heap of other regulations that all suck. We need some kind of conditional rego that allows us to compete in highly modified 4wds, that most of us dont drive on the road in full comp form.

We are still looking into insurance.

And some more new ideas on tracks.

Keep watching.

What should be driven is a debate that will never be settled and then there are the dummy spits and toy throwing ^^^^. There are plenty of buggies that have a regular chassis between the axles already - who gives a toss if the chassis rails are round or rectangluar, the implication is just the shape of the rest of the crap that gets cut and welded onto it. At the risk of daring to say that apparently taboo word "WeRock", thats what the original cars were before the open and moonbuggy craze hit and it all stepped up in performance again. There isn't a lot of difference between those vehicles and Petes now - don't mistake me, I think his vehicle is excellent, it gets driven well and is probably actually better than the early Aus buggies. It wont matter how you synthesis out a set of rules, there will always be knockers and complaints about anything and everything. They just need to have stability in the rules and then not stuff with them - a universal set perhaps and then leave them alone - every change just brings expense.
Cheers

I think your opinion is a minority which is mostly based around your current position of having an unregistered vehicle. As for clogging threads it is a simple discussion of opinions,.

You for some reason need to rain on anyone who has a different opinion to you.

settle petals. The commitee will adjust the rules as they see fit to make a more level playing field. While there will be no buggies at toperi, rego will stand if only on pape at this stage. There will only be one class as before.
Our aim is to provide a comp where everyone gets a drive even if they dnf in stage one.

Now here is a thought. How about some positive posts. This comp is coming to be one of the best in oz.

I think that the organisers should get in contact with the people who run superior all terrain in qld. they seem to run three classes

- modified
- super modified (which both need rego )

- outlaw ( no rego )

It is the only way people dont whinge! I competed last year in a hilux and this year would love to compete in my buggy. But if they don`t allow us to i will weldd some suzuki rails to the side of mine put on a bonnet and grill then i will compete like everyone else does with a mask on my buggy ! A lot of people are doing it so why not? There is a heap of us that have spent $60,000 plus on our rigs which is a huge investment into this sport to make it grow, hoping we can make it more professional so we can pick up sponsors etc. With slap happy rules and regs it`s not equal playing fields for all so lets p/u our act and make the real competive spirit alive again. May the best driver win !
