CT20 Turbo>>2.8 hilux
Hey everyone, Im putting a CT20 turbo (2l surf turbo) on my 2.8 hilux and ive got nearly everything sussed out. but when i purchased the turbo it didnt come with the wastegate actuator.
Is there a way around buying this part. i.e boost controller, blow off valve etccc,... as it is the flap inside is always going to be open because it has nothing keeping it shut so im guessing ill loose all my pressure making the turbo useless?? correct me if im wrong.
All advice welcomed. Cheers, HTH
p.s. dont no how to post pictures to show exactly what i mean..

if no one there as a spare and local wreakers can't help, there is a few wreakers in NZ which ship to AU and surfs are dime a dozen here.

wiring ur actuator shut why?
ct20 will run 12psi no problems just tune it
15psi tends to have them blowing the oil seal
just get an old actuator someones bound to have one lying around ,you could also extend the hose from the turbo to the actuator to about 2.5mtrs this will stop the actuator opening the waste gate (waste gate creep) to soon so it spools up quicker (will find web site which has this information on it)
realy cant see the point of modifying it to put an external waste gate not realy sure it works to well
you cant run a normal blow off valve on a diesel their are electronic ones available ive heared but their realy expensive

also i guess intercooling will come up their are other threads which are talking about them but consider
diesels only run around 400dec exhaust temp as apposed to 900 in their petrol cousins
ive decided not to run any i guess sometimes keeping it simple is best

i guess i should be honest i binned the ct20 after 3 rebuilds
they have a good life and i miss it abit i now run a t26 garret
ive got about the same power slightly more torque with bigger wheels and
at a lower boost

they tend to be ok for 100,000ks then thet start to be come a hassel now people might say theirs lasted longer but its prolly more luck than good managment.
mines on a bundeera lj70 factory
the t26 is the next size up from the ct20,it makes power from about 500rpm to about 4000rpm so hardly any lag alittle more than the ct20
the ct20 200-300rpm to 3000ish rpm

My First rebuild was Axt turbos ran wicked for ages, took it to a so called mechanic who then caused an engine issue which caused the oil pressure rise and force oil past the turbo seal and popped the crank seal aswell ,
then took it to another fool who rebuilt it twice.
then it went back to Axt who put the t26 on it about 1yr ago and its been singing ever since
