I have the same issue with my fuel tank light and my sub tank won't work, I have tried disconnecting the plug in passenger side rear cover behind 2nd set of seats. This clears the light on the dash however when I try and use the sub tank won't work and the light will come back on. My issues started after driving through some creeks with about 2 foot of water and mud.
I haven't helped you hopefully someone else has the same issue and maybe able to give some guidance.

Thanks

Warren

I had this years ago. It was just a build up of junk in the sender. I blow it out with a air blower and have never had a problem since. you can get to both sender units through the floor above the fuel tanks. hope this helped
