75 series ute 2h engine transplant???????????? need help
gday all im new here heard this is the place to get qaulity advice. ive just returned from rover park. drove ive cracked my 2h deisel block again and dont wana spend money to put a bandaid on so i am tossing up whether to buy another 2h turbo reco 20k ago for $3500 or go out there find something like a 12ht to slot ive heard they fit right in???? or to do a complete mission and put my 75 cab on a 80series chasis with a 4.5litre only done 48K which i can buy for 2500???? wats the thoughts on this i will do most of the work myself tho i am on a budget of 5k top ?????????????????? cheers
yeah cheers mate not sure if ill hae the time to do itas yet though im just sussing out options. i can also get my hands on a 12ht in a 61 series for 4000 engines done 350000 so but its auto would that all fit straight in the 75 series???chpd80 wrote:If Qld Transport allow it and you have the ability to do it I would

seems to me a tad high (although they will go for a lot longer than that)
depends on its service life, but you wouldnt want to have to rebuild the turbo or diesel pump and keep to your $5000 limit.
I would think it would fit straight in but havent done it so cant be sure.

The 2h is a bit like the 1HZ scenario, they are not a fatory turbo motor with the extra oil galleries and stronger bottom end so you need to turbo them accordingly. low boost, low exhaust temps, etc.
seems to me a tad high (although they will go for a lot longer than that)

when i bought the ute it had a full reco engine and gear box it doesnt miss a beat tho i came across a oil leak near the oil cooler and thought the cooler was the problem. on further inspection it was because of an over torqued bolt through the cooler into the block and has a hairline crack it was fixed once but now split again i just dont want the hassles of being out bush and having it split again. evrything under the bonnet is brand new. i havent actually taken the cooler off again to check if it is the cooler this time i probly should im just assuming its the split again?? hmm not sure as yet goin to degrease it today and find the leak.
Personally i wouldnt bother with a diesel at all, i made the mistake of spending 10 large rebuilding my 1HZ with all the right bits to put a big turbo setup on it, and have realised that even with all that and another 6k plus for the turbo and intercooler to make the thing hammer, it will still never be as good as a V8 or even a petty 6.
I am now thinking of going the 4.5 1FZFE and putting a turbo on that. Ive been quoted 2500 for a low kms secondhand 1FZ with computer and wiring loom. turbo kit, from what little research ive done should cost about 5, which will have way more power than any diesel and alot of V8s.
Only setback with the 1FZ is that they are hella thirsty, dunno how they are on gas (havent researched), but then servicing and repairing any diesel is twice the price. ive driven the same truck since i got my licence and personally if i was going to spend the money replacing my motor id rather be able to overtake on the highway in less than 10 kms, go up a hill in better than 3rd gear and have enough power to have a bit of fun.

I hope you're exaggerating your highway speeds, or lack of speed...
In my 1HZ troopy I maintain 100kmh and slow a little up hills, not often down to 3rd though...
And mine is loaded heavy all the time!

just 35s, but it makes a big difference surprisingly. a while ago i dropped back to some 33 roadies, holy carp batman, it was like it had a turbo all of a sudden...... well mb not that good but it was a big difference
