My 3.5 is getting to hot at high revs as follows:
-Low range work at high revs (climbs to 'H")
-High speed ie 80+ kph road (¾ temp)
Have changed thermostat, near new radiator, hoses seem OK. Have just replaced fan with dual thermos (14inch). One is front one behind (Heaps of air flow!) top hose to manifold is clear.
Seems to cool off very quickly at idle (¼ temp) suspect bad crculation or timing up the spout! Have optispark ignition that is set at about 8DEG BTDC
Any other opinions or ideas?
Thank in advance
Tony

V8 getting too hot
Moderator: Micka
If you have put in a "new " radiator and thermostat and thermo fans , you may have an air lock put your Rangee on a hoist with the front wheels only and lift up and remove the radiator plug and run engine till operating temp and see if bubbles come out .
Another poss may be a head gasket so check out the resiouir with a "sniffa" and mech will have one

Thanks for both your input.
I did a couple of hours of steep uphill work on the weekend so I don't think its and airlock.
I made my own shroud to fit and the fans push heaps of air through the radiator. (You can see it coming out under the engine bay your pants flap in the breeze!)
Would a blown head gasket create pressure? because the pressure seems normal? And what are the symptoms of a head gasket leaking into the coolant area? No bubbles!!
Any other ideas?
