Looks like I can get hold of a 308/turbo 400 adapted to the cruiser transfer and everything to go with it( owner going back to diesel) for my project cruiser. I am a fairly skilled diesel fitter so the technical aspects aren't a prob but I was wondering (hopefully from someone with a similar setup) what pitfalls I may come across.
One I was curious about was overheating. Its got a fair size radiator but not a huge area for airflow. Does this give troubles in the bush??

croozy - its already adapted he said.
There is a reason he is going back to a diesel. If its still in his truck. Take it for a spin. Your much much better off with a 350 as its the same eco aswell. As for your question. a SHOUDED twin thermal system with nice high flow radiator is heaps. Go hard all day long in the bush with no probs. I have known people to put them on a switch but, so they can turn them off and so they dont kick in during a water crossing and burn out. But mines been fine.

Sorry, I should've been a little more clearer I was talking about engine mount adaptors. There are a couple of companies that make them but I feel they are the beter ones. i have the standard radiator in 40 & have never had a problem

it's never a problem until it can't be fixed, even then it' only a minor set back
i got a 308 in me 45 - and never had a day of trouble with heat using the factory 45 radiator. gas / petrol combo
I can only assume that the v8 and gear is out of a similar truck that your wanting to put it in too. Just make sure all the accessories come withthe motor like the starter and alternator and power sterring if you can...saves sourcing all this crap later

Far as I know, the diffs I am going to use are 4.11's. I think they will be OK. I plan on running 235/85R16 tyres or 33's so I think it should be bout right.
Owners going back to a 12ht/5 speed, this is why he's selling and why I can get the complete driveline, mounts and everything. I have taken it for a spin and it seems to go fine. I'm not real concerned about the motor, but the trans and transfer sound real good. I couldn't get any noise at all out of the setup. It shifts real good and doesent seem to hesitate in kickdown or flare in between gears.
Thanks again for you thoughts, its good to hear from those who have already travelled this road.
The driveline is coming out of an 84 , 45 series troopy. It was supposed to had $3500 spent on the tranny and transfer. There is a cooler about 12" by 12" in the deal as well.
