No steering Dampner

Post by mrRocky »

Recently after submerging my vehicle, the following recovery attempts led to my front tow point and steering dampner assembly being quite cleanly ripped of the chassie ( dodgy indian rat welders :bad-words: )
Since then i have been driving round minus the steering dampner and the car seems to have a better feel through the wheel even over bumps.

my Q they were obviously put on there for a reason, should i fix it or leave it ? i dont want it to kill me in the wrong circumstances, but if theres no harm ill just leave it off.
cheers mick

I run ps with no dampner.

Do you get wobbles?

Should be fine, its mainly just to stop sudden bumps offroad flinging the wheel out of your hand.

I ripped mine off about 6 months ago, and it is no worse now, except off road, where it can cause the wheel to spin violently on rocks.

That aside, ask your insurance mob if it voids your insurance...

They don't have power steering in aus.

Another mate had one. No dampner, or mounts for it.

Interesting... However I still stand by my original comment that it may void your insurance.
