Hi All,
A while ago I posted a similar thread to see what I could do to the old 3.0l motor.
We have now started to do the following:
Stroker Kit - increase to 3.8l
New headers and complete free flow exhaust
65mm Throttle body.
Re-profiled cams (don't have details yet)
New engine management system and dyno tune.
Looking at getting 160Kw and 340Nm torque.
Anyone done something similar? Any suggestions?

Shaving and porting the heads is another very good option. Can see about higher ratio rockers, supercharger? Sheet metal intake? (could also make it with twin throttle bodies?)

mitsubishi 3000gt front cut $2500 or less from your japanese import wrecker....same 6g74 engine but with twin turbos 206kw, without any modifications add a bit of boost or a nice turbo setup and you will be pushing well over that probably even close to 280kw or more....
or just get the manifolds and the heads and turbos and bolt on an intercooler and bolton the turbos run an extra injector and a piggy back computer, and its turbo....probably more reliable and end up cheaper to do the frony cut you will get everything computer,wiring loom,intercoolers and everything else you will ever need...

Mitsu GTO/3000gt is set up as all wheel drive with the motor ounted sideways leaving everything mounted incorrectly for a Paj swap. Could make up an intake to suit though. should not make a difference wich way the engine goes....its essentially the same block...might need to muck around with engine mounts and a bit of mix and matching with your current engine (intake ect) its just like how ppl put in magna engines... their out of a front wheel drive which is setup the same as an the awd engine were talking about... but i think it would be as straight forward as a engine conversion can get.....also iv got the heads and manifolds and turbos from a 3000gt in my garage i was just going to bolt them on to my current engine as is and see how long it lasts.....but ill see how i go i need to get a backup engine first as it will probablt just detonate...if need be you could get a different set of manifolds ,custom made to suit the pajero thats only if they do hit the chassis as mentioned earlier...if the intercoolers were not big enough mitsubishi would have not engeneered it that way...you only need to go bigger when you start to run massive amounts of boost or it will produce more lag and give it a bigger hit...you want it to come on boost as low as possibe and produce as little lag as possible...or as soon as it hits boost it will start to wheelspin wich i personally think would be fun but not suited the best for a propper offroad setup

As for the intercoolers I personally think it'd just be easier to deal with one larger unit.
As with any conversion there is a lot of fart arsing around but its certainly not impossible.

well i know people are just swapping v6 3l for magna v6 3l changing to the pajero manifolds. and afew other bits and peices. no problems at all..as you said a bit of fartassing around but it will be alot less than the 6=8k +everything else you need..so lets say 10-11k all up that they want for a supercharger setup......anyway either way i think it would be a good conversion to do....and id like to see someone do it i may even have a crack at it myself seem as though i think its so easy.....are you sure it hits the chassis and not the body maybe a bodylift would fix that...

what about the motor from the pajero evolution instead, 280 kw as standard and would most likely be a simple nuts and bolts swap over i've had one of these a few years ago and they are completly stupid !! 140mph + performance as standard they are 3500 cc with the mivec valve setup
93 2.5 swb, 2 1/2 body lift, 2 1/2 suspension lift, 35's, baljoint spacer / flip, camber adjusted, snorkle, rear locker, electro luminesant clocks, big ice, tv's + tuner, gps
I don't know about you guys but with twin turbo's or a supercharger I'd be cacking my dacks about those 28 spline rear axles and also the small t/case.
There's a reason Mitsu went to the massive rear 9.5" rear diff and a MUCH larger t/case for the 3.5 V6 and 2.8TDI.
If it's a street car then it may survive ok but for an offroad beast with that much poke in seriously rough terrain then broken axles will become a dangerous reality.
If your base vehicle was a 3.5 V6 then no probs it's only the front CV's that will be the weak points.
