would anyone have any pics on custom rear bars for there sierras and how they are mounted.
I need to build one as my cage runs to there i have just been real lasy.My zuk has a 2 inch bodylift,id like to have something with a tow hook or haymon reeses section built in if i can get mounts strong enough.Thanks

sierra truggy,37 sticky treps,propane,6.5s and disconnect,lux diffs with spools,16" fox shox,hydro steer.
this holds a ful size spare off a swingaway carrier on the left side for better weight balance.
Seperate to this is a hayman reece styled tow bar sitting between the chassis rails, however this is easer as its a LWB, you could do it with a SWB but you would have to remove the standard rear crossmember.

I have a hayman & Reece towbar on my Sierra, but it actually doesnt have the square tonque hitch thing. They dont actually make one like this for a Sierra incase your wondering. Could probably make your own though.

Do you find having the spare wheel on the LHS a pain for rear vision?
I understand fully your reasoning for weight distribution, but where your spare is, is where I personally look for rear vision usually.

thanks for the help so far fellas.was just having a look over it yesterday and couldnt work out a nice neat way of mounting or being strong.Ill keep at it tho but if anyone else has ideas......?
sweet work spike, i like the rhs and channel bars alot more and i have rhs front and sliders so it will match more.Good idea trying to beat the suzuki lean too.I would like to have a haymon reese setup for reoveries nie and high like that but i like how my standard towbar protects the fuel tank a bit.Im sure i can work something out to protect the tank,good tow points,strong enough for exo etc

Where the body mounts to the chassis on the rear. There is another hole directly below it. Run four bits of flat bar out from them then work out how much of a bend you need to put into the flat bar to mount your RHS. thats what i did with my tube bar/tyre carrier. Its strong enough to pick up the entire rear end with a crane...

i take it you just mean the 4 holes,2 a side that the towbar normally bolts too?my other option i havent really looked at yet tho it trying to mount it like a front bar gets mounted,around the crossmember pipe etc

Nah i mean running 2 pieces of flat bar from the body block mounts and 2 pieces of flat bar from the holes where the OE tow bar mounts off... or have i completely missed the question? I wouldn't mount it like the front...imho

na you havent missed the question mate,computers are bad for communication lol.
Just looked,will can the front mounting idea as for the towbar mounts and body mounts,id like to not mount it to the body ones cos my cage is hanging off it,will still flex etc like it does now.I should have sorted this out ages ago but its simply more fun to go wheeling.
You got any closeups of mounts on yours anyway?

thats how it has been for nearly a year now...The towbar is a dodge home made one id like to change a bit,the cage bolts down at the sliders and to the rear bar also with angle welded off the pipe and a 1/2" HT bolt but the stock bumper is weak and mounted to the body,i want it tougher and off the chassis,id continue the bar around the side like the stock bar to mount the cage down.
Or pull the cage off cos its ugly

Im not sure how clear it is but where the body lift is there is black flat bar coming out and up from there. Below it is flat bar coming straight out. My pipe bar comes around the edge to my flaire, Im going to mount my exo (when i get around to it) off it.

I think a well resigned exo will be a stack better at keeping people alive then an internal cage. mine would be bolt on and offable...who would want all that extra wind drag on your way to work...

my cage unbolts and is removable but stuff that what a waste of time.I havent had a big stack in it and dont plan on it as i know it wouldnt hold up great,but in the 0 or so times its lent over or fell over nothings budged.Looks good with the shoes mate and better with the quarter chop finished too.

I was making a joke... I'de run a brace from outside drivers side through the cab (behind the seats) and onto the floor, or brace it behind the rear door on a hinge. Im just not a fan of panel damage...
