Looking at 6th-8th November, however, these dates and the location are NOT confirmed as yet because 'discussions' are still taking place.

whats the partrol club land like, where they hold son of trials, i know that s.o.t. is a different level of comp but im sure there would be good tracks for a more hardcore comp. ive never been there so feel free to correct me if im wrong. if sorra fell through then is that an option?? not that far away from syd.

the sot site is not the clubs land. the clubs land is not suited to any comp. riverisland (sot site) is where the trials started althose years ago.

As Mid73 said above, the Son of Trials in not held on the Nissan Patrol Club owned land. It is held on private property owned by River Island Nature Retreat.

This site is where the original Nissan Trials first began as little more than an inter-club funkhana. The location then changed to Sorra which allowed for a bigger array of harder grade tracks to be built and the ability to accomodate more competitiors on a larger scale.

there are no tracks at the SOT site that would be remotely challenging for some of the vehicles that drive trials...
ive driven a heap of the tracks there (only on 35s) and none of them have been hard..

PUBLIC RELEASE

2009 CLASSIC NISSAN TRIALS

November 7 and 8

Last year it was with great disappointment that the Nissan Patrol 4WD Club of NSW & ACT Inc was forced into a position to postpone the Nissan Trials. Since that time it has become necessary to make a number of changes to the Annual Nissan Trials event.

The Nissan Patrol Club has felt it necessary to move forward with continuing the long standing tradition of holding an exciting competition event in the first weekend of November. The significant delays with reaching agreement with SORRA over the use of the Colo site have meant that in order for us to be sure of holding an event in 2009 alternative arrangements have had to be made.

It is now with great excitement that the Nissan Patrol Club announces a new (or is that old?) venue for the new format Classic Nissan Trials. A decision has been made to return to the original Nissan Trials venue of River Island, near Mittagong for 2009. With this new venue comes a new format for the event.

We will be announcing more details over coming weeks for the event including vehicle classes and event rules. As a general guide the Classic Nissan Trials will utilize the original Nissan Trials tracks and build on some of the steeper hill climbs and more difficult obstacles at the River Island site, along with the possible resurrection of the original “Stairway to Heaven”.

Vehicle classes will likely be Touring and Tuff Touring. Whilst the details have not yet been finalized it is likely that the Tuff Touring class will include such modifications as lifts, lockers and big tyres.

We look forward to welcoming all of the supporters of the Nissan Trials to the new format Classic Nissan Trials and plan to make it an exciting and fun filled weekend for all families and 4wders.

Its all still to be decided what the event will be but probably be like a Son of Trials style event but aimed at bigger cars. Bit like modifed class style cars but more touring/club trucks.

if its aimed at bigger cars then tire size would need to go up to 40s at least...

38s under a GU aint that big :?

38s under a zook is huge

big difference...
i hope it all gets sorted soon so people can start planning..

i hope i can compete, as i keep missing out on son of trials due to my auto locker
