4WD light flicking on and off

Post by Ridge »

i got a 98 coily with a leafy t-case and a set of gears in it. about 2 weeks ago the 4WD light that comes on when low or 4H is engaged stopped working. now it is working again, but it is constantly on or flickering in 2WD. i did not do anything to try and fix it.

the light is not on or flicking when there is no acceleration or when changing gears.

could it be a lose or dirty contact somewhere?
any ideas?

cheers

mine was doing that and the wires had nearly ripped off the top of the switch and where stuffing each other up. Bought a new one, old one was not repairable, have a look your might be salvageable all it is is a simple switch that is operated by a ball bearing pushing it in and out when you shift.

Sounds like the torque rolling of youre engine/gearbox is shorting the wires together or to chassis, check youre loom for any signs of damage, also youre switch. Just check the basics first.
