CLUTCH ISSUES- LN106 HILUX! PLEASE HELP!!

Post by wtr_sprts4life »

Hey guys -

Just put a new motor in my lux, and decided to do the clutch also.

I had the flywheel machined, new spigot bearings, and a HD clutch kit from PBR which i bought at repco.

Fitted it all up, and found that the clutch was only half disengaging, and that going from neutral, foot all the way on the floor, it wouldnt select any gears. i turned the car off, clutch to the floor, selected first and started the car back up and the car began to go forward slightly, like i was riding the clutch.

I bled the clutch, still didnt fix it. I then began to think maybe i put the clutch plates in wrong, so i dropped the box again for re-assurance.

So now, i know that the plates are DEFINITELY in the right way (according to the manual for the clutch, and the hilux repair manual), the fork and throw bearing are in the right way, and ive bled the clutch with no air in the lines.

What else can it be???? is there any adjustment i can make to make it disengage all the way? It all worked before i pulled the motor out with the old clutch (it was shagged though..) and now i cant seem to make it work now

Any help will be muchly appreciated. John

there is adjustment for the master cylinder under the dash, u can take the rod off the clutch pedal(held on by a lil clip) and adjust the end of it to give more "throw" or movment of the cylinder. You will see how it all works when u have a look under the dash were the pedals are.
This happend on my old rodeo ute when i changed the clutch and also my corolla

x2 it takes a tiny adjustment here to make a significant difference.

if this doesnt work check out your clutch slave cylinder as when mine went it gave your symptoms for probably 50 uses until it shat itself
