Hi i am new to this site but have a problem with my 1995 mitsubishi pajero glx 2.8 turbo diesel intercooled
on my way home i lost all drive motor still runs but no go can select gears wthout pushing clutch and car has a whining noise that gets faster depending on gear selected speedo does not move when in gear and when motor started in gear still no go, also when in gear driveshafts aren't moving
can someone please tell me what the problem is i.e. gearbox ,clutch, transfercase or driveshaft
the gearbox is a 5spd manual superselector

Well, I don't know what the problem is, and the only guesses I can make won't make you happy.
The change in whining noise (with different gears) suggests to me that at least some shafts in the gearbox are turning, which suggests the clutch works - but I'm not convinced, given that the gears don't crunch. Do the gearbox whining noises stop if you push in the clutch pedal?
I suspect the problem is either the connection between gearbox and transfer, or within the transfer itself. I'm beginning to think that, as a minimum, the transfer will need to come out.
My next test would be to all four wheels off the ground, and checking which shafts turn with which, with the transfer in different positions e.g. 2H, 4H, 4HLc.
