Does anyone know if you can get a mod plate for an IFS to LIVE AXLE front 100 series?? Ive made a bunch of calls with no answers. And doesnt anyone know how hard it will be and costs? I dont want to have to get a stock n/a diesel just so I can have the live axle front. Im after the 4.7 V8 version
????
Cheers TBB
there are reasons why it can't be done (or would be very difficult). the V8 sump etc sits right where your diff would be, without massive lift it would be impossible. the IFS chassis is completely different, too - not that it can't be done but it would be very difficult - probably ewasier to try and intall the V8 into a 105 series.
Ive seen some drop brackets for the 100 series. What kind of max lift can you get out of the IFS. Can you disconnect the airbags and do a body lift? What size tyres can you run? .
TheBigBoy wrote:Thanks assassin - IM IMPRESSED... But you cant compair it to that 80 series, with standard shocks and sway bars still on.
Nice travel still on the ifs. What about the cruiser front cv's? are they very tuff at all? And how much would that 100 series front set up cost me?
The 80 had 2" lift also, running OME shocks and coils, and both cars still had the sway bars connected, so thats an apples with apples comparison both loaded for trip, right there.
You cant discount one, or the other.
3" is about the max out of the front, and 4" rear, and you can run 35's, like the one in the pics above.
Supercharged 80 SOLD - "OPERATION SANDY" now in effect.
You sure that 100 series has his sway bars on?? Doesnt look like it to me.
Anyways.. How much did the front set up cost? And is it possible to disconnect the air bags and do a body lift?
I'll bet my left nut that hundred has longer shocks in the rear than the 80.................... look at where the rear wheel in the 80 has dropped compared to the hundred.. the arse is doing all the work.....
LOL @ ifs being as good as solid.. its never guna happen..... well not without a full custom set up like the desert racers use.. and thats not designed for flex aye
. Yeah I think we all know that already. And considering I was under the front of a 100 series ifs today and there is a dirty great big sway bar lookin at me that isnt in THAT photo.
Disconnect the shcok and remove sway bars/ extend break lines and the ifs is never going to win. But you have to admit the ifs holds up pretty good in that picture. Im still impressed. All be it you will snap cv's alot easier.
Man those yanks have thought of everything. I just found prefabbed strut extensions. 2 hours to fit. upto 2" lift and retain factory drive (torsion bars, coils etc.) Although I realise you have to change your shocks and drop your diff for extra travel and reduced wear and tear. Thats a bloody cheap 3" lift if all your after is height.
They also have procomp 6" lift set ups that look sweet as for the 100 series, Optional coil overs (just like live axle coil suspension). Or a cpmpletely tuned 3" lift.
the comparo pics of the 100 and 80 above have the two cars in slightly different positions. (check shadow cast by front wheel) actually looks abit like the 100 has been photoshopped into the pic
a small change in line or tyre placement can make a big difference so maybe not apples to apples maybe more like grannysmith to pinklady (ones sour, the other sweeet)
I have heard of ppl doing solid front diffs in their t/d/v8 100's...i have also heard the gears from the ifs will fit in the RFS diff centre...so ratios can be changed...

easiest way is change the chassis and get a surroget vin
you will have all the travel you need and yes the body will bolt straight on
need different bars if you have them front and rear

TheBigBoy wrote:Where have you heard the solid axle 100 series V8 conversions from? Noone does thm unless you go a 6" lift. I dont want to go that high.
On here...never done one myself, only read about it....may have been t/d not v8...but was ifs to rfs. Brundswick diesel do chev v8 conversions and use v8 5 speed 3.9 ratio in the rfs diffs, thats how i know they interchange. If you dont want to go high, then save the hassle and put a locker in the IFS and a diff lowering bracket as suggested earlier. Better on road, and works ok off aswell

Mate, Ive just learnt about the 02 sahara and lexus and on. WHAT A MACHINE. Im going to go buy 1 of them.
They have ifs front but air ride height adjustable suspension. 3 settings low, med, high. Flick of a switch gives you 4" lift all round. Put it in low and it automatically lifts another 2" ontop of that.
Stability control (self levels the 4x4 on un even terain. Adjustable ride shocks (sports mode etc). It leans into corners. It has a propper geared steering. Normal at 100kph but only have to turn it half way to full lock when at rolling speed.
Traction control includes lockers. And if fully adjustable for extra slip when needed.
And finally. Factory TRD superchargers that take it to 330bhp with eco 14 litre per 100.
Im sold..
