Rebuild a 4 bolt or 6 bolt steering box?
i had a 6 bolt box in my 90 and was shagged, so put a 2nd hand 4 bolt in and it is not really the best either. so my question is which box is stronger, etc to get rebuilt. either pay the $700 - $800 (quotes i've been getting ) to rebuild the 6 bolt and refund the 4 bolt ($250) or if the 4 bolt is far superior somehow, probably refund it anyway and get a rebuilt one?

Mounting the box was fairly easy but the steering column took a bit of mucking around. You need to get the imperial splined landy shaft to mate to the 17mm metric splined unijoint from a Navara which fits the GU box.
Still need to do the plumbing but that won't take much. Steering arm was easy as I have GQ diffs but wouldn't be too hard to link to Rover diffs.

I've just rebuilt my spare 4 bolt and was happy with the availability of parts as they're more common than the 6 bolt,they seem plenty strong enough so no worries there.As mentioned new ones can be bought for around $800 which I think is quiet reasonable.
So If I was in your position I'd use the 4 bolt one,the 3 bolt units are equally as good too.

Photos of my unfinished toy on photobucket - thanks to instructions from Sam (I hope this works) - shows Nissan GU steering box with panhard rod bracket attached to Landrover County chassis. Steering column worked out OK also.
Other photos show chev motor & dual cab conversion. Tyres are 36 Simex's on centrelines with Second-Airs.

so your panhard sits further back then factory? it doesn't fowl on the diff on full up travel of drivers side then, must be close? or is the box a little longer, as the mounting points look closer to the factory chassis panhard mount then mine - further forward? and theres no 2nd mount/brace back to just above the pitman arm obvioulsy with the new mount behind and inside the pitman arm, making it about 150mm shorter or so. the pootrol box is obviously more offset the wheel arch too.
