Update Xtreme Rules for ARB XWC & EFS XI

Post by XTREME MMM »

:D :D :D

These are changes to the ARB XWC and EFS XI Rules, backdated to take effect as of Round 1 2009.

Production Rules are correct and are not effected by below.

Wording still has to be finalized, but here it is for all to see.

Chassis:-

Full chassis must be used.
Chassis (wheelbase) can be shortened/lengthened.
Rear of chassis is allowed to be shortened up to the original panhard rod/spring hanger bracket.
Front of chassis can be shortened up to first cross member or first suspension support bracket, which ever comes first.

Body:-

Must look like the manufactures model from the "B" pillar forward.
Accepted changes are half doors and soft tops as per current rules.
Must use original style/size guards. Can be fitted with flares.
Must use original style/size bonnet. Can be fitted with air scoops
Guards and bonnet can be made from:- resign, steel or plastic.

Note that overseas vehicles may be exempt from these rules, pending information from overseas competitors.

It would be in your best interest to contact me before major body/chassis work is carried out. It could save you a lot of money if you want to be able to compete in an Xtreme Event.

JUST REMEMBER IT HAS TO LOOK LIKE THE REAL THING.

Cheers

Lynda, for ARB XWC & EFS XI only. Production Event is covered under its own rules.

If vehicles have competed and have not changed body/chassis design since Round 3 in 2008 and Round 1 in 2009 they will be ok.

This change was due to modifications to some vehicles that came to my attention from the 2009 LMP Expo last weekend.

All I can say is, if you are in doubt call me and talk before you make major changes. It will save you time & money.

JUST REMEMBER IT HAS TO LOOK LIKE THE REAL THING.

Xtreme 4x4 Sport and other event organisers, have over the years been open in what has been allowed.

It is now time to rein in some of these changes and keep to what it is surposed to be, vehicles looking like what you would drive on the streets.

If those that have made changes do not want to change back, there COULD BE other events that you maybe able to compete in other then Xtreme Events.

Cheers

how good are rule changes half way through the competition............................NOT,

what about leapfrog's guards they are half gone??

i honestly dont think removal of guards and bonnets and whatever else gives them any advantage at all, look at russ's patrol that kicked all out asses at rocky,

lets make a unlimmited class then, im happy to play with the big boys, gives me more satisfaction when i beat them ha ha.
not one of the cars competing would come anywhere near passing a roadworthy and yet they still have to be registered, why????? just cause... so why do they have to look like every other patrol or cruiser or whatever out there. we are allowed full coilovers no inner guards no dash and any engine or driveline we can think of, the only un modded patrol bit on my car is the windscreen,

let em race

:D :D :D

The main reason for this Rule update, it is not a rule change, it is already there, just a reminder, that the vehicle must be registered.

One of the current Xtreme competitors went a little bit too far, and regardless of what else was done to the vehicle it could/would not be allowed on the road due to the design of the guards (lack of) & bonnet and lights (placement & lack of).

After seeing the said vehicle he was advised about what changes he has to make if he wants to compete at Round 2.

Some things have to come to a halt, so it is best to knock it on the head before it gets any futher out of hand.

If I wanted buggy looking vehicles competing it would have been in the rules to start with.

The statement that you made about Russ is correct, so why do it.

It will not effect any competitors that have entered in the last Round or who had entered in the 2008 Series, if there vehicle looks the same as it did back then.

I think the rules and guidelines are very clear, do not push the boundary.

So I would advise anyone who is in doubt to give me a call and run it past me first.

I think I know who your talking about and it looks hideous (spelling???) But having said that...there is no advantage to be made. And he was/is a valuable competitor to watch as a spectator!

:D :D :D

But it looks good as a buggy.

You will find there is an advantage when you are driving, but it will also be very hard to see that left hand front and to judge where that wheel is.

You are correct the team is very good to watch along with all the other teams at the ARB XWC & other events.

You also have to be carefull when you do mods like that - there might not be any events that you can compete due to rules, and Xtreme & I believe SSS have such rules in place.

but sayin that they have to be registered is stupid i think, name me one veichle that could honestly be legaly registered in the competition, none, so your asking for them to be registered just not legally or properly,

so we have another competitor gone cause he did something that is no advantage to him at all,

what is the go with hydro steer? is it allowed? or the hydraulic bump stops i have mounted in my chassis, or my 14inch coilovers coming through the floor, or is all that cool cause i have a RWC and the outside panels look like patrol,(cause thats all thats left thats patrol)

all in all

THESE RULES SUCK

I think the rego is to ensure you have Compulsory Third Party which is fair enough. Hopefully it will never happen, but if that insurance is called upon and the vehicle is deemed "unroadworthy" then there will be no payout.

This is only an assumption based on Insurance companies looking for any reason to avoid paying.

Dave, understand that competitors should check with the events they wish to enter to confirm mods. But maybe the season could be seen out and rules implemented the following year. Your event (any every other) has to adapt/change rules as technology and curiousity evolve, but i think a set of rules in concrete for the year. How people interpret them and modify their vehicles is up to them.

Dave - IMO congrats for sticking to this!
I have competed in more of daves events than i care to event count over the last 7 years (it must be more than 20 by now surely). Personally i have ALWAYS preferred how dave handles the rules and how they are enforced HARD but FAIR. The one thing that sets Dave apart from everyone else is that he CLEARLY states ALL the rules and sticks to them, not like some other event organisors that change the rules to suit "friends". Dave also has a great technical knowledge and can appreciate competitors that use there brain to optimise vehicle and equipment, rather than hobble them due to personal differences.
MMM has a great formula and i hope to see it stay that way!!

BTW its not robbies fault for the major mods, even he was surprised to see what the guys did to his truck

i dont think its to suit friends but i remeber a rule on hydro steer that said its banned but the one guy who has it can keep using it??????? how is that fair........thats right its not

also dave told me that insurance has nothing to do with rego its just cause he wants it, as i offered to get my own insurance and de register my car, (would rather put the $900 towards making it look like the real thing)

i still say have a unlimmited class ill race bugies if they want, BRING WHAT YOU GOT AND HOPE YOU BROUGHT ENOUGH

I do not know what all the trouble is about, I have just enforced the Rules that are already there, not made a new one.

As I will state once again, if you have entered an ARB XWC this year you have nothing to worry about.

If you have modified your vehicle since Round 1, and you have tried to push the boundries with the rules then you should start to have concerns.

A phone call is very cheap.

As for an open class, why as you all ready have one (with rules).

Kent to fill you in, your insurance would not be any good to an event organiser, it will help if you are out there by your self. But as soon as you start to compete you will come under the insurance banner of the organiser (first) then more then likely to you, so having your car registered gives you possible CTP, this will also protect you as you move between the stages and to & from camp.

And I just had to give an answer to the full hydro steer (it seems to be an issue with you):-=

Jacko had asked me for my approval before he had fitted it and it was given.

After he competed once (only Team that has run it) there were talks between myself and other organisers and it was decided that full hydro steer in the future would not be allowed. So yes it was canned before anyone else did it.

And as he was the only one that had asked and had sort approval which he obtained from me for the Xtreme Events, I gave him my approval to keep running it if he wanted to.

So one only has to ask and seek approval if they are pushing the rules, you might not get it, but it is well worth the phone call.

Quote "It appears that the bull has bolted, been captured, returned to the pen and the gate closed"

So lets just get on with it and comply.

I forget to add, if you want to race buggies go for it. This could be a good event for another event organiser.

Cheers

I think it could also be a safety issue with not having normal headlights on the front of the Vehicle in question. During a gps event or something similar when trucks are going every which way and the truggy is head on to another truck he can not dim his head lights and the on coming truck will be hit with 2 HID's at eye level in the window.

dave you told me that insurance had nothing to do with why our trucks had to be registered it was cause you said,

i have spoken to my insurance people and they will cover me for whatever i need, as i told you and you said it had nothing to do with it it was cause you said????????????

the hydo steer is a issue because how can you say your fair if your only letting one guy run with it. THAT IS NOT A EQUAL RULE. i couldnt care that he has hydro steer i dont wans it but its the principal

if i wanted to race buggies i would, i wanna race winch trucks, at there very best, thats why i like the comps where you can work on them at night so every day the trucks are at there best, that way it doesnt come down to luck so much as it does now,

i said UNLIMMITED class dave, any you saying we have that but with rules is like saying, i can race for free as loong as i give you $400 bucks,

:D :D :D

Hi Kent, I really enjoy having you at my events.

By the way you only pay 380 & not 400.

But someone has to make the rules and when you compete at any Xtreme events it is ME, MMM, David or what ever you want to call me, calling the shots, that is why I get paid the big bucks!!!!!

As I own the ball in this sand pit, it is up to you.

If you want to follow my rules you are more then welcome to play in my sand pit, otherwise go and play in someone else's.

And if you want to follow my rules, which I think are very clear & fair for all concerned, you are more then welcome to come and have fun.

Cheers

By the way, I have stated my case and I will make no more comment.

The way the sport has been modifying itself way beyond the point of legality,
(& face it we are all guilty of that) maybe its time for a new class.

(1) Dave has just started the production class, it has rules & guidelines that must be adheared to,ie 33"tyres,3"lift ect ect ect
(2) Maybee its time to ask Dave for a NEW CLASS- unregoed/outlaw class, obviously with rules & guidelines, but where you could compete in a buggy or exsivly modified comp rig
(3) then he can tighten up the already existing rules that we as competitors have been slightly ignoring or pushing the boundries of for years.
........ SO JUST A THAUGHT.........
CLASS:-(1) EXTREME PRODUCTION CLASS.
CLASS:-(2) EXTREME MODIFIED CLASS
CLASS:-(3) EXTREME OUTLAW CLASS
all set under the winch challenge rules, & could all be run as 1 event but 3 classes then the spectators have 3 styles & 3 times as much action.
just a thaught, dont crusify me for it
