Leaf selection for FJ40
I am about to install fj55 rear leafs on the rear of my fj40. Since a fj55 is heavier than the fj40 I would like to remove a few of the leafs to achieve better offroad ability, more flex. But I still would like to use as daily drive so not to soft. Does anyone have experince with selection of leafs as I dont know which leaves to use. I have one set of fj40 and one set of fj55 rear leafs. Maybe a combination of two will give me what I want.
Any advise would be appreciated

I used 60 series rears and just used the top two leaves and replaced the rest with my thinner 40 series leaves. Take out the shorter leaves at the bottom to suit your needs. I took too many out and had to add an extra leaf all round. Now the roof is off, I should take one out again. Just set it up to suit you, you may need to frig around with them a bit.
Im here for the sausage!

what flex are you wanting to achieve,
up or down.
this makes a difference with what leafs to use and how many,
if you wish to have more down travel remove the pins in the top of the clips that hold the leaf springs together, that way when you flex down effectively your longest leaf being the top will bear most of the travel.
