Crank Pulley Swaps?
Crank Pulley Swaps?
I'm looking for a 120-125mm crank pulley to suit a G16A. This is to make a little supercharger project I'm toying with easier At a guess I would expect any of the G model pulleys would fit. Does anyone know if there are different pulley sizes between the vitara, sierra, swift, GTI, barina? Also are some pulley fitments generic? I mean is there a chance a pulley off a different engine series might have the same generic fitment as the G series?
Cheers,
JW

Hybrid, any idea on what supercharger you will be using. The jimny crank pulley is 125mm, is 4 bolt and uses a 4pk belt configuration.
With an AMR300, this creates 5psi throughout the rev range (800rpm to ~5000rpm) on a 1.3.
Any more details on your build?

Thanks Shep but I can't quite make out the vin plate hehe. Think I'll stick to the GTI pulley. There should be a fair few of them about the place seeing as the red line boys like to go with aftermarket underdrive pulleys.sheps wrote:i got one off whatever model suzuki this is

Sorry Spike only just saw your post. It must have come up while I was posting.Spike_Sierra wrote:Hybrid, any idea on what supercharger you will be using. The jimny crank pulley is 125mm, is 4 bolt and uses a 4pk belt configuration.

I've got a SC12 to bolt on to my G16A. I've done some maths using volume of air flowed per revolution for the G16 and the SC12 (assuming 1.2l per rev as per an autospeed article I found). Basically with a 1:1 pulley ratio it should be running 7.5psi. Hence needing a 125mm or smaller crank pulley. Obviously this is all just numbers on paper to the engine is running though. It will no doubt go either higher or lower depending on other factors such as air flow efficieny etc. Heres hoping it goes down not up. I don't really want to run more than 8psi.
Heres the basics for the rest of the build.
- megasquirt programmabe ecu that's running the NA g16 at the moment. I tune this live running a wide band o2 sensor and controller
- Boost will be measured by the MS via the MAP sensor. The megasquirt will even show an onscreen psi boost gauge along with the kpa map gauge if I like
- To start with I'll run a 10psi boost cutoff on the megasquirt just in case my maths is way off.
- I'm currently running Throttle body injection but thinking of a home made port setup
- Prob wont change the engine compression ratio as the G16A comes stock with a relatively low one. If I do I'll go with a 2mm copper head gasket they use on the 1.3 swifts
- I'll mount the SC12 above the extractors on a fixed mount with the power steering pump acting as a belt tensioner
- I'll run a small ebay intercooler. Just a cheap 2nd hand one off ebay
- I'm toying with the idea of running the stock 4agze air bypass valve and VSV to act as a boost controller.

Hey Nic. To start with I'll run it full time. The MS does have the functionality to turn the SC clutch on and off dependent on engine load, rpm, etc. Might keep it simple to start though.
By G16A I mean the earlier carb's 8 valve model which I converted to throttle body injection. The 16 valve G16A has the same higher engine compression of the G16b from what I've read.

if you havnt already got a supercharger, then you might look at this. Same belt configuration, very small and easy to fit, especially with PS (mine fits under my PS pump). and should put out about 7psi with that pulley config.
