Hi all
I have a GQ petrol tank and i want to fit it to my dads Sierra ute as a long range tank. The original Sierra tank is damaged and will be thrown out.
My Dad is pedantic about having his original guages working.
How to i get the guage on the dash to be accurate with the GQ tank?
Can i modify the suzuki sender somehow?
Can the GQ sender be used? This would be the easiest option?
Cheers

I don't think using the patrol unit would work, the resistances that tell the guage what to show are likely to be different. You would need to get the patrol guage, connect it to the wiring for the zook, hold guage fully up then fully down and see what it shows on dash. If it works, great.
If not, hopefully the zook guage fitting is smaller so you can just cut out a plate to cover patrol hole and make a hole in it for the zook unit, if that makes sense. If the guage doesn't reach the bottom, you need to cut the rod and weld an extension on it long enough so that "empty" is just at the bottom, and make sure the orientation allows full up and down movement without hitting the baffles or anything like that.
A bit of a pain in the bum but you should be able to get that to work ok I would think.
