hey booflux just wondering if you could give me your take on 3" TG front and rears...im considering splashing out and buying this to help get towards my goal of creating a hilux comp truck but i need to know whether this system handles bumps well at high speed and also jumps

Hey mate its a great kit for flex and ride but I wouldnt be running leafs at all if you want high speed nd jumps. I dont believe the TG kit or any leaf kit is suited to that application.
looks like i maybe back in the market for coils...does anyone know if you could fit coils to a lux using the original diffs (so not buying patrol diffs) or without spending 5 grand (what bubs quoted)

nah i dont reckon.

mines getting coiled atm. with patrol diffs and coilovers.

All the quotes were around the 5 grand mark for labour. It was just the shock and spring combos that changed the price.

And it will prob blow out a little anyway becasue some things when quoted cant been seen till you get into the job and you may also have some changes of your own

well i had planed to one day go to coils but not really this soon. lol all i need is a mate thats good at this...hmm i may just have to deal with only having 10mm of travel for a while longer.

well for later referances:

what are the best diffs for coils + disk all round for lux? and would it be worth while to re-model the whole rear while im at it (new tray, and 4 link setup or something)

Has evolved to that.

Some basic set ups with the right gear work well.

The offer is there to look at what you have now and give some advice.

First one is start basic.

in other words something that wont cost me an arm and a leg...that will do high way easy and handle the fair extreme tracks. if coil is the go then ill be only going for a 3" lift with basic shocks and springs.

the hard part is that i could spend 3 grand on trail gear and that will fix my problems but as soon as i want to get into comp i will have to go to coil anyways

Search BOOFLUX he has a mean leaf setup from trail gear very very capable... you dont need to spend all that money on paying someone else to highly custom mod your rig with coils etc when for the amount of money and how much more capable you rig is you wont notice...

Buy Trail gear and i will install for you... and for cheaper than any shop does... give me the best quote from a shop and ill beat

WHY would you 'HAVE' to go coils for comps ?... Trust me trail gear setup done right would compete

Mate it depends on the comps you wish to do?

In your PM you were talking highspeed and jumping, for this imo you should be looking at a coilover setup, but it will cost you.

If you want a capable setup that can hack it in the rest of the comps then the TG package would be fine. Cracka competed in his Gen1 runner at Tuff Truck this year with a TG 3" setup the same as mine. The kit worked well has held up well and will probably be back again next year for more of the same.

I intend on using mine for Tuff Tracks in the near future again still with the TG setup.

It all depends on your needs and budget IMO if you want cheap then RUF and IFS rears is the way to go, if you want better again and can afford it the TG kit is the way to go. From there I would say link setups, coilovers etc are your options but the cost can be prohibitive.

There is also a lot more parts and items that make a competive comp truck, no point having a great suspension setup if the steering isnt up to the task, if the axles and CVs cant hack the larger rubber, the gearing needs to be looked at, it has no power, etc etc. Personally I would look at your budget and build the best all round rig you can for the dollars. Talk to people who compete in the comps you want to start in and follow their advic evolve from that over time as you get experience.

Or you could always just search around for someone who is selling a completed comp truck? Often cars will come up for sale that have receipts for retarded amounts of money for the mods and only cost a bee's dik of that for the completed package. ;)

Just fit it yourself, would take half a day going at it slow I'd say.

And you can learn how to to it all

You shouldn't need a welder, unless you have to put in a dropped hanger.

You will only need a few jack stands, a jack of some sore and some general tools.

to fit TG 3" front you need to "remove steering box with torch or plasma cutter"

Yeah I just had a look at the kit, you can always just buy the springs and shocks by themselves

The only thing you actually need replacing are springs and just get a swivel hub kit to do the hub seals.

No need spending 3g on something you don't actually need right now.

If he goes with the 3"leafs in the front he will need hi steer realy no matter what he does he would be better with hi steer than the original steering.

in other words it is just better for me to buy the kit instead of buying the individual items...like i dont really need the steering stabilizer since i have just replaced mine but this one is most likely better quality then burson would supply

just wondering if i would be able to buy the front kit and fit that and leave the rear how it is? and how would i go about finding out how much lift my car already has...because the rear isn't a problem how it is...if the rear is 3" lift already then i can afford to leave it for a while
