Terrano 11

Post by lowrider3 »

Hi all,
I used to hang out in the daihatsu forum a long time ago , I have an old rocky atm.

Thinking about buying the ol man's Terrano 11
It is a 99 model whith turbo diesel
has 112000k on it never been in 4wd , so far :)
I have done lots of searches but thought i would also ask here as well
The engine ? are they a reliable ?

I dont expect it to be as good off road as the rocky .....
*waits for the laughter* except in sand , Those tortion bars are a bit of a worry for me
The rocky was leaf all round , never had one with them before
Anyway just after some Bad points to them , It seems to go well enough for me , big enough for me
But what am i getting myself in for ?
Thanks all
Luke

The TD27 is good for half a million km's if serviced correctly. No timing belt and no real heat issues with that engine.
The steering is a bit of a pain when the Terrano is lifted or has big tyres on it.
Other than that it's a good and reliable 4x4. Tough Dog sells the Sway-A-Way stiffer torsions bars for the front which are a nice upgrade together with some good shocks and stiffer rear springs.
I have a 2004, last year of them in Europe, with the ZD30 and 120k km's on it without any problems other than self inflicted damages by the driver.
