Looking forward to seeing how the new format works out.... and trying to figure out how we can afford to do it again :)

Gutted to see the Defender pull out, that must have been a contender for top 10.

Good luck to all !

If anyone can email the stage instructions over to me it'd be useful to take a look and get a feel for the format, throw me a PM if you've not got my email address.

cheers

Show and Shine was this morning a few cars were still missing doing repairs. One being the new Venezualaen Team having trouble passing scruiteneering.

Only 24 confirmed competitors as at 2:50pm today.

Huddy's car is now fixed after Alan McGilvray tried to sabotage it this afternoon.

Huddy tired to move Al Mac's Jeep and now it is having trouble running as we are leaving for the prologue. Won't idle properly.

Hoon's car is fixed after issues with the Harmonic Balancer again.

Cars are doing 2 seperate laps of the prologue tonight.

Clouds are starting to move in hope it doesn't rain.

Spoke to Hoon this arvo and he told me that Huddy had rolled (3 or 4 times) at speed and there is no injuries but the car is a mess (Pete said "fukced"). Don't know if the roll puts them out. No other info except that Hoon is still running.

James and Brett have had an issue with my old car that I though we had fixed where the alternator cooling fan grows at high speed and starts to eat itself on the surrounding bracketry, they have made temporary repairs and are happy with their performance so far, Hobzees blog mentioned the power steering pump, the pump is fine but I know the sound he heard and could see why he might have thought that was it.

Bring on the photos!

OK ! For all those Banana Benders (and Landrover Tragics ...)

SORRY FOR THE DELAYED UPDATE .... (Bloody OL's been off the air !!!!)

I'm Cheering along the whole field - but particularly Fiddler & Dubbya (aka Graeme & Jeff in "The Hulk")

SATURDAY:
The boys had two clean runs today at the Racecourse ... Can't recall the numbers (way to much beer on board now) but towards the top of the field in one and mid-field in t'other. The LandRover/RangerRover/Ford/GU is running sweetly and there are no concerns to date. It may not be the quickest in the field - but it's probably not the slowest either ...

Any news on how their winch performed ??? I know that there's an anxious Tiler sweating on news of how his "baby" is performing ;-)

Here's a little bit of scuttlebut - apparently 36" 'pedes have arrows on them for a reason ... (Duoooohhh). The boys did a quick swap on the rears this morning !!!!

While it's a bugger that Huddy & Co'ey rolled hard it's great that they were able to walk away - thank you Roll Cage and thank you sensible Rules & Regs ...

Not sure about coverage as they head for Denian (???) - will post as I can and rely and the rest of you when I can't ...

Slick !

FRIDAY:
Spoke with Dubbya Sat morning. The boys had a great start to the 2009 OBC with two clean runs along the Stevens Ck. track. Run One 4:13 and Run Two 4:00. The best time for the night was 3:38 (Hummer ???).

The only other Banana Bender in this year is Lawrie Sternbeck in the "LexLux" - who ran a 4:03 and 3:50.

As mentioned earlier, Nick Mannell tore the front wheel/hub assembly clean off the car (at the axle housing) when he clobbered a tree stump at high speed. Lawrie had an issue with the A-Frame separating from Diff Housing (not good !).

The field is off to the Broken Hill Racecourse today (not the Quarry as in previous years) for two more SS before heading off to Denian tonight).

Hope to have further updates early this evening !

They are the General Grabbers. Neil Cooper and Scott Beaven Both run them also. I reckon they could be a great tire for a comp like out back.
