swivel hubs

do i need any special tools for doing the swivel hubs in my
hi lux LN106R....bb

Socket to set wheelbearing preload is handy, 54mm i think but dont quote me on that. Did mine with a pin punch tho....

yeah you can buy them for 23 bucks on ebay, i paid 22 through my local 4by place - tool shops are no help.

just did mine this afternoon, a decent hammer and a punch or big phillips head screwdriver with metal cap so you can use it as a punch to get your bearing seats out.

apart from that 10mm, 12mm, 14mm and 17mm socket. plus a seal puller would be nice but you can usually butcher them to get them out just be craeful you dont score where they sit.

if your pulling out your axles to do inner axle seals you need a 24mm socket for your diff oil drain plug as well.

its a pretty easy job. pm me if you have and q's, im getting pretty well rehersed in it .

I was really suprised when bunnings didnt sell brass drifts, they looked at me like i was asking for hair gel from mars i hate bunnings

I found out the hard way, luckily there was just enough meat to get one on it

also you might want to get a set of those pliers that open the other way.
can't think what they're called. it's for the clip on the end of your stub axles.
should prob do in axle seals as mentioned as it's not a job you'll want to repeat in a hurry.
locktup sell good ones that don't cost the earth.
+ 1000 rags.

Circlip pliers

And while youve got the circlips out, grind a lip on the face where the pliers grab, i had trouble getting the pliers to grip..

couple of cardboard sheets under each hub before removal if u value the shed floor. 6 cans of cheap degreaser. Any one mention rags?.

Hehe... Asked them if they sold Contact Cleaner the other week. The woman took me to the craft section and started looking. Turns out they don't.

a brass drift is not an every day item. I would be surprised if bunnings did carry them. Or any brass bar for that matter.
