Have just had a quick call from Hobzee with an update.

- Still raining and the roads are currently closed :bad-words: But weather looks to be clearing up. If the roads don't open tomorrow they will run extra stages at Viewmont and miss some stages at Poolamacca.

- Mud SS this morning involved several water crossings/obstacles and few nav points. No teams DNF'd and some teams winched. Stage won by Dave Cameron, Lawrie & Hobzee came 3rd, Greg Scanlon either 2nd or 4th and Max/Cosmo did well also.

- They have another SS this arvo which I think is Mud Runner. From past years this is usually a 2-3 hr stage with heaps of water crossings/obstacles and heaps of nav points.

- Griffo, Mick Hingerty & the PGS boys are all back with the group. Al Mac not competing at this stage as he awaiting parts for his winch.

Phone reception wasn't real good so thats all the info I could get before he dropped out.

Cheers, The Fish ;)

Just heard from a Karen Mac that from where she was watching there where up to 7 vehicles in various parts of the Billabong crossing at the same time, some with water up to the windscreen, she said it looked hilarious..
Alan Mac is up and running again, Neil & Hummer just hit the Billabong as I spoke with her.

Got a call from Warren, they've just done a transmission, not sure if they'll be able to fix it.
He mentioned they're just by the river and there are trucks everywhere and bogged to the hilt...

The Billabong - how I remember it from last year - it brought the Rangie down and sent it back to BH.

Keep the reports coming - great reading

Just heard from wife that Al Mac has "crashed into a drain and done a lot of damage to the front end" :bad-words: That was her explaination so make of it what you will :D

As others have said many teams stuck in the mud and not going anywhere fast

They are hopeful of moving on to Poolamacca first thing in the morning

Cheers, The fish ;)

Not a lot to report but here's what I know ...

Just talking with Dubbya, the rain has stopped, the roads are open and the field is off to Poolamaccca tomorrow morning. This afternoon's GPS stage was EXTREMELY hard on man and machine with wall to wall glutinous mud. According to Jeff, the GMC sponsored Dual Cab (no name sorry !) was still stuck in the crossing - apparently 3 cars (at once) have still failed to free it from it's watery prison.

Al Mac has Fubar'd the chassis on his Jeep - AFAIK he is out.

The Hulk is currently receiving a tune up (noisy POS). A persistent clunk in the front end was tracked down to badly worn free wheeling hubs causing the cogs to skip ocassionally. Reception was a bit dodgy but I think that they managed to find a way around the problem.

According the Dubbya the whole field is having a whale of a time - spirits are high and the famous "kinship" is evident everywhere as teams seek to assist fellow competitors to make the most of the event.

No stages tonight - catch up on repairs and maintenance after the mud and slush and then off to bed early !!!!

Hi Fish and all OBC past and present members.

having done 2005 and 2006 with Al Moysey, i am still glued to the forum each year as the OBC gets underway.

As soon as i win Powerball i will have the truck and get The fish on board. would set him up with a live web cam strapped to his head and a laptop streaming into everyones PC at home so we could relive the unique experience that the OBC offers.

Anyone who has a truck ready to race then you must do the OBC to give you a life experience that will stay with you for...well.... life.

Great updates Fish and Hobsee...and all.

Like all of us.....some pics would be great to help us feel a part of what we know as a bl*#dy great time.

anyone know the latest on Andy Miller and Robbie....probably enjoying destroying another truck!

Adam Kenny.
