rear coils fall out
Gday all I am after some advice/thoughts on how to retain my coils in the rear of a 130 defender. The coils and shocks are pedders 2" lift the front is good but the rear has no sway bar and with the long travel shock the coils will fall out (long range tank fitted cant put a sway bar in) can I tie them in with steel cable tied around the top mount and the axle with enough travel to utilise the full travel of shock.Can go to approx 560mm of travel before coils fall out . any advice is appreciated

reinforce the bottom retainer as they will bend and use 2 pieces of 5mm 40mm 150mm flat bar for the top drill a hole 10mm in the middle of both bars allowing for a 50mm 8m bolt to go thru place one bar on top of the spring perch and the other thru the highest point of the coil ,bolt together

harry 29 you can still run sway bars, just have to drop the rear mount by 2" odd to clear the tank and obvioulsy fit longer bolts

My long travel kit
My long travel kit works very well. it uses relocation cones to relocate the springs as they return to the mounts. if you tie the springs in you are limiting travel. I made a set of top cones for my rangie with which i also run inch and a half coil spacers. springs pull away about two inches. Let me know if you guys are interested and I'll knock up a few sets. but remember to worki out your shock mount heights. The bigger the shock the bigger the closed length, so you need to raise the mounts to retain up travel
